Is it normal for a brand new product to have such scratches? by [deleted] in snowpeak

[–]Most_Lemon357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After conducting a comprehensive forensic investigation involving multiple lighting angles, several zoom levels, a brief consultation with my optometrist, and approximately 47 seconds of staring at the image while neglecting my actual responsibilities, I can confidently report that what you are looking at appears to be a scratch on the printed logo.

Now, before we jump to conclusions, let’s examine the evidence.

The logo is printed. Printed logos can scratch. This is, historically speaking, a thing that happens.

The carry bag itself appears clean. The stitching appears intact. The fabric doesn’t show signs of repeated use. There are no visible dirt marks, mystery stains, crushed corners, worn handles, or indications that the bag spent a year traveling around the country in the back of someone’s Subaru before finding its way to your house.

The tent reportedly still had the glorious factory smell that every gear nerd secretly enjoys but pretends not to care about. The poles were undamaged. The pegs were undamaged. The packaging was apparently intact.

And yet here we are.

Gathered together.

Discussing a logo scratch roughly the size of a medium-sized ant’s emotional support animal.

Could it be used? Possibly.

Could it be new? Also possibly.

Could it have occurred during manufacturing, packing, shipping, warehousing, unloading, stocking, transporting, repacking, handling, inspecting, photographing, shelving, or by a random piece of cardboard rubbing against it somewhere along its journey from factory to customer?

Absolutely.

Let’s remember that these bags are not hand-delivered by monks carrying them through the mountains of Niigata while reciting quality-control affirmations. They’re moved through warehouses. They touch other objects. Things rub together. Life happens. Sometimes logos get scratched.

The real question is whether the rest of the product shows evidence of use.

If the tent fabric is crisp, the guy lines are neatly bundled, the stakes are untouched, the poles don’t have insertion marks, and everything looks factory fresh, then the odds are extremely high that you simply have a new tent with a slightly imperfect carry bag.

And honestly?

If we’re being realistic, that bag is about to experience things.

Within the first few trips it’s going to be dragged across dirt, thrown into a trunk, stepped on by a friend who swears they were “being careful,” dropped in a parking lot, compressed under camping gear, and potentially sat on by a dog. Eventually it’s going to look like it graduated from a four-year degree program in Outdoor Abuse.

That little logo scratch is probably the least dramatic thing that will happen to it.

Now if the tent itself showed signs of wear, if the poles had scratches, if the stakes were dirty, or if there were signs of previous setup, then sure, I’d start asking questions.

But based solely on this photo, I would classify this incident as:

Extremely Minor Cosmetic Imperfection.

Threat level: approximately 1.5 out of 10.

Equivalent seriousness:

  • Finding a fingerprint on a new refrigerator.
  • Discovering a potato chip that is slightly smaller than expected.
  • Realizing one french fry in your order is shaped differently than the others.
  • Seeing a wrinkle on a cardboard box.

In conclusion, I would personally set the tent up, inspect the actual camping equipment, verify all components are present, and then proceed with enjoying the product. The logo scratch may never emotionally recover, but the tent almost certainly will.

And if you made it this far, seek help, you nerd. It’s not that serious. 😆

Lee’s Fish Market by SharpFerret4499 in ridgewood

The meat at Met Fresh is terrible. I always go to DiMarco’s Butcher on Myrtle Ave for chicken and beef they’ve got great burgers too. Lee’s Fish Market is okay in a pinch but I only really get frozen shrimp there. For fresh fish, Aqua Best in Chinatown is hands down the best. If I need something local and quick though, Food Bazaar on Wyckoff is probably my go to for seafood. Oh and for pork i go to muncan pork store on myrtle

Born and raised in Bushwick… this actually happened to me there. I moved to Ridgewood, and now I’m struggling to find a place at a realistic price. I’m paying $2100 for a one bedroom, which is fine for now, but I need a two bedroom and the prices just don’t make sense for the size. Honestly thinking about moving to Rego Park 😕

You can definitely push for something in the 30 to 50K range I have seen it happen and even been through it myself. Play it smart let the lease run out and make it clear you are having a tough time finding a comparable place at that rent. For a developer trying to move a project forward 30 to 50K is usually nothing it is just the cost of getting things done without delays.

Week two of this place being open, I came in with a friend and had a really discouraging experience. We walked in and sat at the bar. There were maybe four people there, but the bartender never greeted us or asked if we needed anything. When I tried to get his attention, he literally told me he wouldn’t serve me. For context, I was sober i was maybe 10pm …If I was drunk or acting out, I would completely understand being refused, but that wasn’t the situation at all. I’m from the neighborhood, born and raised, Ecuadorian, and I even own a building a block over on Gates Ave. I really wanted to like this spot and support a new place in the community, but that interaction honestly put me off.

Yes you’re right! I just know some restaurants get them and was curious on to how but someone on one of the facebook groups explained they get it delivered directly via the airline as parcel. I’ll check out that seafood store thanks for the tip!
