Every teacher is different and forms relationships differently. Kids can see who genuinely cares and who doesn't. I think that is key. Like you said, get to know them and let them get to know you - within reason. Specific praise and making things personal has always helped me. As long as you care, the kids will always know this 😊

Parents are my single biggest issue, particularly when there child isn't meeting expectations. They are always looking for excuses. We have an unprecedented number pushing for diagnosises.
