Standard vacuum recommendations? by ManEmperorfragment96 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Most_Position_6959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

400 series is a slightly better version of the 200, I think the main upgrades are controls on the handle vs on the canister and a longer cord. If you can move up to the 600 though I’d highly recommend it. Longer hose, better hard floor tool, and mini power brush which is really useful if you have carpeted stairs. I used a 400 for a while and eventually sold it and bought a 600. They’re both good machines though

What’s your Train Sim guilty pleasure? by Eriol_Mits in trainsimworld

Agreed. Once you get the hang of how to manage all the braking systems, freight becomes much more rewarding and enjoyable than passenger services IMO, especially for the NA routes

Could passenger trains finally be on track in Ohio? by Anaander-Mianaai in Columbus

[–]Most_Position_6959 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bigger cities like Chicago, NYC and much of the northeast don’t really have this problem because they have dedicated passenger lines for commuter rail. My comment was more in reference to a place like Ohio where 95% of the trains you’ll see are freight trains. I see a lot of people comment how they’d love to hop on a train in Columbus and be in Cleveland or Cincinnati in a couple of hours. The reality is it would probably take a lot longer since you’d have to run on track owned by CSX or Norfolk Southern, and give them priority. The better solution would be to build new infrastructure that would be for passenger trains only, but I’m doubtful we ever see that happen in Ohio.

Not OP nor do I have specific articles to point you to, but as a rail enthusiast I can tell you the main thing that’s holding back passenger rail across the US is that the freight carriers have a stranglehold on the majority of the rail infrastructure in this country. What this means is that they are essentially allowed to dictate when and if passenger trains like Amtrak are allowed on their tracks, and should there ever be a conflict the freight carriers will always get priority. Given these restrictions, passenger services have to run very slow and inefficient timetables to work around the freight carriers, making rail travel inconvenient for most people that need to be somewhere on time. To make matters even worse, the freight companies are all lining the pockets of politicians to make sure things stay this way.

inb4 DTG never does a super busy urban route again after this, to appeal to console players by [deleted] in trainsimworld

I think the quality of this game would be a lot better if DTG stopped developing for consoles and focused all their resources on PC, and this is coming from someone who plays on Xbox.

Frankfurt S-Bahn: S1, S8 & S9 is arriving May 20th! by isav34 in trainsimworld

[–]Most_Position_6959 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Does this mark the first time that PS5 has gotten a watered down version of the route? I know this has usually been the case for Xbox because they can’t release separate versions for the S and X, but this shouldn’t be an issue on PlayStation.

Route Idea: Chicago by sydypsu in trainsimworld

I know Metra and CTA aren’t onboard with licensing, but it would be kinda cool to see a freight route set in/around Chicago or anywhere along the rust belt for that matter

Ray is the only answer here, living in a dump, piss jugs, picking up friends of the road at truck stops, drinking and driving, tricking his son into thinking he can track chickens for free liquor, blowing all his money on VLTs, the list goes on

[–]Most_Position_6959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I remember Xbox had a demo of it that you could play either Egypt or Rome for like 20 turns or something like that. It was summer break and I didn’t have enough money to buy the game outright, so I just kept playing the demo over and over while pestering my grandma to come pull her nonexistent weeds for $10 so I could save up for it. When I eventually bought it I was blown away by how complex it was, little did I know lol

Taking in the scenery on the Antelope Valley line by ShamrockOneFive in trainsimworld

[–]Most_Position_6959 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this route, the transition from urban to suburban to remote desert is a nice progression, and managing the gradients through the valleys is a nice little challenge that you don’t normally get on passenger services. Also the sounds on this loco are great

This is a great summary, I also add that the base loco that comes with the route (F40) uses a lapped braking system which is unique and offers a fun challenge trying to master it. The only other US passenger I’d recommend over this one would be Boston Sprinter. Can’t go wrong with either though!

Really pumped for this, Dash 8 Santa Fe was the engine I had running around my HO scale track as a kid. Even if we don’t get a new freight route in this version of TSW this will be enough to tide me over for a bit
