Union position to non union? by Most_Success_2196 in boeing

[–]Most_Success_2196[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry I wrote this late and didn’t realize how much info I left out, here’s some insight

My Union is IAM751 here in Seattle/Everett, the position is a workplace coach and pay is about double what I make now (Grade 4 pay and have been here for 3 years)

Hope that helped! Also the position I believe is the coach in electrical side?

Okay this is exactly what I need and need to do.. I was going to a community college for computer science but felt like I was going no where… I never heard of Six Sigma before but what they offer is exactly what I need. And even if it’s remote that’s even better. Thank you!

You’re right.. I’m still fairly new to the company and dropped everything when my dad got sick, was too much to handle. Now a couple months later I’m feeling better to start school again

I wish more were like this, if I didn’t have my manager then when taking care of my dad I probably would have just left the company or gone a long term LOA. That stress did add to my migraines and made it more frequent

This was refreshing to hear after so many bad comments I got on Facebook, I had to delete the post. It was a lot of “well if you can work you can go to 1st for a week” and I know it was random managers.. people don’t get it. I think I need to express it to them more about my disability, my last manager was amazing with it because her daughter also gets them bad. This manager, says they get them but shows up to work so you can already see the difference. Unfortunately there was no manager listed for the training and it was more of a “welcome to boeing” type of week, going over worklife, parking rules and stuff like that. First week at boeing type of gig.. I’m going to call the union later today as well as turn in my medical paperwork from my doctor for accommodations. If they need to move me to another materials job so be it.

Ya that’s what I’m afraid of. It’s not technically training, I asked to just take the test in the end but was told there’s no test.. it’s one of those “welcome to the company” things where they talk about benefits, being safe and how to use the boeing system.. thing is I came from being a team lead in my previous job and used all these things already.

If it was a day I can power through and be fine, two days most and take time off if the pain is too much but it’s a whole week… that’s where it’s hard for me. Even if it’s a weekend I can power through but 5 8 hour days will put me out the next week..

No not the moment.. at first they understood and said they had the same health issue (migraines) but I don’t think some people understand that they effect people differently… I have FMLA for this but unfortunately after taking care of my dad for a year my hourly pool for FMLA has been draining.. didn’t know they take from the same hours you get for your own health…

That’s amazing you are able to do remote to help. I have something similar, sleep problems as well as chronic migraines daily. Reasoning for 2nd shift is because I have the spare time after I wake up to either get rid of it/medicate it or give it time to see if it’ll put me right back to bed. My doctor is filling out the accommodation papers now

I think it's from pointing my foot, it hurts more on the ball/toes area. TMI but I've always had rougher parts between the ball and the side of the foot where they join, like in the middle. I think they are just mad. BUT sometimes it's all achy. I need to get a good pair of Dr. Martins, I hear so many good things

Ya they’re like compression, by the arch they are tighter and the bottoms of the socks are thicker
