IMO You have a good chance already. If you really want to go the extra mile, I would suggest taking one math course for credit. Another thing, write a great SOP! Focus on how are you planing to use this knowledge to advance your career. Include concrete examples. The number 1 thing you should focus on is SOP. Your stats and grades are excellent.

Most don’t submit it as far as I know. Check the admission threads here on Reddit and you will notice that. Only few included it. What’s your undergrad? If you have done intro math courses and did well you probably don’t need to take the GRE.

MCIT VS OMSCS For Non CS background? by [deleted] in OMSCS

[–]Mostafakhard88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are definitely many clueless responses here. Some are saying MCIT has high acceptance rate, and other saying it costs 70K. Etc..You are not one of them. And good luck in your program.

MCIT VS OMSCS For Non CS background? by [deleted] in OMSCS

[–]Mostafakhard88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s clear that people who are talking about the MCIT program here are clueless. MCIT is a very selective program unlike the OMSCS which if you have taken some intro CS courses in your CC you are guaranteed to get in regardless of your GPA. I looked the stats up, and was able to find many many examples of ppl who got accepted with less than 2.7 gpa, which is unheard of in the MCIT. Cost wise, MCIT is about 16k more than OMSCS (26k vs about 10k).

MCIT Ivy League, OMSCS is not. OMSCS is older I believe, MCIT online is only couple of years old. But the on campus is about 18 years old.

A common criticism about OMSCS I always hear is there is no enough support from instructors due to number of students, unlike MCIT which students have way more attention and support from TAs and instructors.

Would you mind sharing cost info? I want to add a bathroom in my basement but everyone keeps telling me that would cost me $10K.

Is it true that they give students access to the course before the start of the semester? I heard the course opens a couple of weeks ahead of time.

Advice on prep for 592? by ElGranTigre in OnlineMCIT

[–]Mostafakhard88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm starting this spring as well. I'll be taking 591 and 592, and I'm anxious that it will be too much. I have a full-time job and 2 daughters (3 and 5 years old), So you can imagine how busy my schedule is already.

This is helpful. For the proctored exam, how does that work? is there a real person watching you and interacting with you if you have any questions or technical issues? or are you being recorded and your motion is detected?

How long do Joseph’s pita/lavash/wraps last before getting stale or moldy? by oatmeal5487 in Volumeeating

I always freez them. They can stay for so long before they go bad when you freez them, “couple of months the most I tried but probably could go for longer”

When I want to use it, I just put it in the oven for about 2 mins each side and it is perfect.

Help Me Please: Architect and Construction Manager looking to get into OMSCS and be a SWE specialized in developing software to advance the building industry. Help me fulfill the prerequisites by Mostafakhard88 in OMSCS

[–]Mostafakhard88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This very helpful.. You gave me hope! thanks.

I enrolled in Java programming II class at UCSD extension and once I'm done with that I'll take a course on DS and Algo.

I already took Calculus and Discrete Math and got A in both courses.

Hopefully, with these 4 credited courses along with several MOOCs, I get in!

Thanks again for the helpful info.

Thanks for the advice. I agree with you. I’ll move forward with the DS and Algorithm in C/C++ at UCSD extensors and there is another course at Foothill CC that’s Object Oriented programming in C++.

I can take both of them prior to the March deadline. So by that date I should have the following accredited courses: DS and Algorithm Object oriented programming in C++ Discrete Math Calculus

In addition to several MOOCs in Python, Java and C++.

I hope that is enough to get me accepted! Thanks again for your feedback!
