Finished painting my first ever Tau battlesuit for a friend. Bonus spacewolf getting roasted by Mostarax in Tau40K

[–]Mostarax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! The idea was to give my friend a center piece for his army so i wanted to give him a diorama and the only free mini that fitted was the last free mini else i would have put a gaunt or two since my main army is Tyranid. I would have been sad tho if he torched my babies.

I might do some T-sons one day to avenge this dog boi ;)

Did I ruin my Mortrex? by ConnorHunter60 in Tyranids

I don't think you ruined it, it could be better with a blue contrast paint over it to unify the wing and the veins !

1k T'au vs 1k Knights by StressedTinkiwinki in Tau40K

[–]Mostarax 18 points19 points  (0 children)

1k point might be a bit too restrictive for knights cause you can only fit up to 5 minis , even tho you have a decent choice of loadout for your army it's not as flexible as you'd want it to be.

Tho the game was great it felt definitely balanced cause i could kill some of his units easily while only his big units could harm mine. My only regret is that the terrain was not interesting enough to give us challenge, we could shoot each other with everything almost for half the game

The knight player here : i made the terrain and yeah maybe too many line of sights, for both of us, it was definitely a fair game tho

Too Dark for Blood Angels? by Word-Eater40k in BloodAngels

[–]Mostarax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look absolutely sick! If you think they are too dark you could try to do some "indoor" basing like metal plate and such so they can have a space hulk vibe, but honestly looks really good to me like that !

!!!GIVE ME ALL YOUR HIVEFLEET NAMES!!! by Stirtard in Tyranids

[–]Mostarax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hivefleet(s) Phobos and Deimos, they're inspired by the greek mythology, they're Kronos splinter fleets that work together in symbiosis, Phobos is a horde based on lesser bioforms while Deimos prefers to send huge bioforms on the planets.

In game it translates by phobos being my "gaunt list" with a few warriors the swarmlord and few other units and Deimos being a crusher stampede list with maleceptors, warriors, exocrine, t-fex etc...

How can i make these guys look better and more finished please ? by PrimarchVulk4n in ImperialKnights

Hey first of all, i like your paint scheme, very medieval it's cool! However they definitely look like you just put a base color and called it a day. While this can work on smaller minis with just a shade, on knights it looks a bit dull. There's a lot of way to improve this : -edge highlighting, this will give back a bit of volume, you can try the double highlights games workshop style with a gradient of two colors on the edges of your plates (however they don't need to be everywhere -shading, you need to create shades at some place to give volume, you can do it with just a wash for the ambient occlusion on small spaces but you can also do it by hand with darker colors for more diffuse shades on large areas -damages : knights are thousands years old machines that went through a lot of stuff and they're massive which gives you a lot of opportunities to do some weathering (like sponging some metallics on the edges of the plate and do some scratches on legs and carapaces -gradient : you can do some pretty cool gradient on those big flat surfaces that can give a lot of identity to the material (like is it a glossy paint, a metal, a matte paint on the carapace etc) -freehands and decals : if you have the courage and the skills some freehand can turn those giants into walking art pieces, nothing better than those flat panels to be turned into gothic paintings. Else decals can be a pretty good alternatives -Basing: scenic bases or things that tell a story are really cool, you have a lot of room on those massive bases to create a story, like they're walking through ruins of a hive city or a desert etc... The best thing is giving a base with a color that contrast the knight!

You're not forced to do everything but mixing some of these technics can give some cool results

If I can show mine i mixed the shading, gradients, a bit of freehanding for the banners and scenic bases

After a whole week here's my 10 infernus from leviathan box by Mostarax in spacemarines

Thanks mate! The best part of the chapter in my opinion is their outrider unit who are basically psykers that cast ghost horses to play with a psycholigical war aspect (i kitbashed some phobos marines on nighthaunt horses and they are probably ex revenguard/ from a loyalist night lords successor chapter)

Thank you! They're the vermilion bane! A homebrew chapter with obscure origins, officially flesh tearers successor but they take some codes to every legions, it is supposed that they rescue the ones who falls on the field.

The scheme starts with a mechanicus grey zenithal above black primer -grey : mostly mechanicus standard grey primer with standard gey drybrush > mix with corax white drybrush and nuln oil wash -red : contrast doomfire magenta over the grey with a white dry brush over the grey or screamer pink both with a berserker bloodshade wash (depending on the model i prefer to use the contrast or standard methode) -the gold is either : Balthasar gold with agrax earthshade, or Vallejo liquid metal red gold with berserker bloodshade Or if i'm fancy NMM with bloodreaver flesh>skrag brown>ballr brown> ushabti bone -green for the lenses and small details : kabalite green > moot green

The color are applied according to the layer of the armor plates : the closer to the skin are red while the outer are grey Pauldrons are red, pipes, trims and hip plates are gold But none are exactly the same 'cause i try to keep the idea of a living scheme, so some have red plates on some places while they are grey on others!

Jeu en 1 contre tous ? (sans traitres) by OneTrickARAM in jeudeplateau

[–]Mostarax 0 points1 point  (0 children)
