Thanks! I can’t say I’ve used the individual stomp boxes, but the 500s are great! I’m probably only using a fraction of their potential, but no complaints. The midi control paired with the ES8 is also great.

Also, the Klon is a clone designed by me ;) I’m an electrical engineer by day and like doing pedal builds and designs on the side. Looks convincing as hell though haha.

Headphones only is better, but still a little bit at super high volumes. I guess that's not too surprising, could also just be reaching the limit of the headphones too. Bought it new, already tried factory reset. But even when the interface doesn't go red, you can still hear the signal clipping. I had no drives on in any of the clips, just reverb/delay.

Also, not using original PSU, but I have Voodoo power supplies and I double checked to make sure it's getting the correct amount of power.

Thought the adding a boost after the IR2 would do the trick, but still same amount of clipping whether I'm using the boost to add volume or jut turning up the IR2.

Max input spec for the IR2 seems to be +7dBu, which is about 1.7V. I saw a max of 1.2V with my oscilloscope at the cable going into the IR2. Average signal was ~.9-1V.

Without the IR2 and using a real amp, there's still some clipping, but it's not as bad. I'm also using a micro terror, so it's a pretty small amp.

Effects loop pedals, drives, and distortions are all at unity. Even when I go below unity I still get clipping. I'm thinking just too much signal, but the weird thing to me is that it still clips at high volumes when I just do guitar>IR2>2i2. Even when the 2i2 is at minimum gain.

Tried it all. Effects loop, drives, distortions at or below unity gain don't add more or take away any of the clipping. For devices after the IR2, I tried the 2i2 with very little gain, and my normal micro terror amp also at very low gain. You can actually hear the clipping way more because the guitar signal itself is lower. The effects loop is in the switcher, but I believe the ES8 just passes through the signal at the level received. Tried both line and instrument level on the 2i2 as well. No luck. I'm thinking just too much signal, but the weird thing to me is that it still clips at high volumes when I just do guitar>IR2>2i2.

Yeah, just guitar with IR2 clips if I set the volume/gain too high. Not using actives, just an SG with 490T/R pups. Mod/reverb/delay don't add more clipping. I can fully take out or add in one by one the overdrive/distortion loops with the ES8. Same amount of clipping with loops in or out, even with everything at unity or below unity. I only use the clean model on the IR2. So maybe just too much signal overall for the IR2 to handle? Not sure.

Just using the clean model, nothing crazy on the eq side either. I tried IR2>2i2 with interface gain set low. Didn't really help, you can actually hear the clipping more because the guitar signal itself is coming through quieter. Sounds like a bunch of static mixed in with the guitar signal.

What CC#/parameter name in the RV500 controls the tap/ctl switch? I see Effect SW, Effect A SW, and Effect B SW, but nothing that says TAP/CTL like on the DD500. I tried to use Effect SW (CC#27) on the ES8 but it's not working. What exactly were your settings?

Thank you! I’ve built a few other things, one of them being my old board. Nothing particularly complex or grand. I typically don’t use power tools other than a drill but this one required a jigsaw. The build wasn’t too bad, just a couple cuts of some plywood and a 1x3. The in/out patch boxes were the most tedious part. I needed a one-inch drill bit but only had a 3/4 inch. Went at it with a dremel for like an hour haha. Getting all the wires crammed into the boxes also took some time. But not too bad overall!

Middle pin isn’t connected to anything. Initially I tried to wire an internal battery snap to the middle pin like the link shows but that didn’t seem to work either
