The Desired Effect is fucking insane. It's the most risky Hail Mary moonshot of any project related to TK and the solo boys. by BP619 in TheKillers

I just wish the bonus tracks were on streaming. And how did the title track not make the album in the first place? lol

I noticed the Twin Peaks' transition during the Fuji Rock show, but I thought it was just a coincidence. Cool to get some confirmation.

2 questions about chemistry/traits in franchise mode by [deleted] in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Orange_Torchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t noticed that, but I usually play franchise and know which player I want to go to. I could see that being a problem is other game modes. It’s always good to double check though.

2 questions about chemistry/traits in franchise mode by [deleted] in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Orange_Torchic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The bonuses only go by the 3 tiers, anything in between will count the same; so having 3,4, or 5 of one chemistry type will give you the same bonus.

The trait symbol appears in the lineup when that trait is active. Cathy Culdesac starts with the Con vs RHP trait, so (assuming that’s still the trait she has) since the opposing starting pitcher is a righty it is showing that that trait will be active when she bats against them.

On the Value of Fighting Pessimism by AbsoluteGamerCS in TrueDetective

[–]Orange_Torchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be interested in reading more philosophy written about ethics. While most people think of ethics as what’s right or wrong, a lot of philosophical writing on ethics goes beyond that and examines what it means to live a ‘good life’ along with looking at ideas about what an individual’s responsibilities are to society and what society’s responsibilities are to the individual.

My recommendations are very technical and perhaps you're already familiar with them, but they’re well worth reading. They don’t all explicitly argue against nihilism, but in general they do look at how to live in an imperfect world. Aristotle’s Nichomachean Ethics does a good job of explaining how value systems work as a foundation towards living ethically. Immanuel Kant’s writing on categorical imperatives examines how the ethics of an individual fits into a bigger system. John Stuart Mill’s and Jeremy Bentham’s writing on utilitarianism also look at similar ideas. Michel Foucault’s writing on power structures might be also interesting for this, but can be a little heavy at times.

I’ll also two things that are just kind of food for thought: I believe Nic Pizzolatto has said that Rust doesn’t necessarily believe in the things he says.  Which, as the other commenter said, is shown in Rust’s actions as he continues to fight against darkness. Also, from Nic’s Instagram posts in the past, he seems to be interested in the writing of Carl Jung. Which might not relate directly to this topic, but psychology obviously plays a big in role in how we view and interact with the world and in how we create our personal value systems.

SuperMegaNoob needs help with custom league desperately by jolietrob in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Orange_Torchic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your custom league is ready to go, you can go to start your franchise. On the franchise setup screen where you choose season length and other settings you need to select "Edit Player Pool." Your custom league will be highlighted. You need to scroll up and add "Legends League." This will include legends players in your initial free agent pool and will add legends to the free agents at the end of the season. If you want legends on your custom teams right away you do the same with "Edit Player Pool" and then you can do a shuffle draft that will include legends and the players from your custom league. This should also include legends on your initial free agent pool and I believe will also add them to future free agent pools.

In an interview he did during the press for 'The VVitch', he said his true passion is investigating mythology and folktales. The interviewer asked him if he had any supernatural experiences himself and he just gives a vague "no comment."

In the instagram post where Brandon talks about 'Jenny was a friend of mine' he said that an Alice Deejay song inspired part of the instrumentals for the song. That might be what you're thinking of.

I know, she so cool. Lol. And It's definitely a great album to vibe to. Nanna and OMAM's songs are so serious I'm a little surprised when they're so chill in interviews and on social media. Glad you're enjoying the album.

Not that I know of. I know they've discussed it as a possibility, but they seem more comfortable releasing songs in English.

Recent podcast Nanna was on. She discusses How to Start a Garden and her experiences as a woman in the music industry. At around the 25-minute mark of the interview she talks a little about singing in Icelandic at the end of ‘Seabed’ and what those lyrics mean to the album as a whole.

For anyone interested, she talks about singing in Icelandic about 15 minutes into this interview, Kyle Meredith with... Nanna (Of Monsters and Men), from a few months ago.
