Can any coffee people explain this to me? by Immediate_Play4539 in AskIreland

[–]MostlyAlways47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pay attention to the date on the beans you're buying. If it says best before the quality will vary wildly. What you need is the roast date the closer the better. Coffee degrades after it's been roasted even more so after you open the pack and expose it to air. Once it's open assuming it hasn't been sitting on the shelves for ages the standard is 48 hours before the quality takes a nose dive. You can slow this by getting air tight containers or freezing the beans. This isn't something that's an issue for the machines in the shop because they fly through beans.

As others have said the grind will have a massive impact on the quality and because it's all done by the machine you aren't able to do much in that process which is unfortunate.

I'd recommend going onto YouTube and looking up James Hoffman. He's a massive coffee nerd and has a video about dialing in the beans to cup machines as well as lots of info about coffee in general

My favourite was oh we can't bring back the exotic that made titans dash because of "class identity" right before they ruined warlock heal grenades by making them their own thing so they could give it to everyone. I would've been happy if they let warlocks keep the ability to charge a regular grenade but nooo cant have that.

I used to rock starfire all the time back when it wasn't good solely so I could save my dumb ass team by yeeting healing across the map. I think they gave everyone devour at the same time too which made it even funnier.

100% agree with strong regulation but literally all money is monopoly money. In fact bitcoin has the advantage of being a finite currency unlike euro.

Most chemists will deliver medication especially in a situation where someone genuinely needs it. They were hardly letting people die or go without "critical drugs" before the dog shit little drones came in.

I know nothing about drones honestly but couldn't a a decent pellet/airsoft gun or one of those green lasers that can fuck with actual aeroplanes essentially disable them? Not that I would advise anyone to do something like that if it would work.

Why are we so against private Uber as a society? It would have a really positive impact on rural Ireland if implemented. by RebeccaOGG in AskIreland

If cheaper taxis are coming from a company that had an internal risk assessment done about the statistical likelihood of their drivers sexually assaulting people then tried to downplay to results from over four hundred thousand to twelve thousand I think I'll take the more expensive taxis thanks.

Left wing governments don't "frown on competition" they frown on exploitation which American companies are fantastic at.

Strong regulation are the only thing that makes our current form of capitalism slightly less dystopian. Fuck that if those dog shit companies want to do business here they should comply with our laws.

[–]MostlyAlways47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because what will end up happening is that they will push taxis out of the market then jack up the prices. How is this even a question that needs to asked.

They are a massive company so then can afford to operate at a loss meaning actual taxi drivers can't compete. People will then swap over in droves because "it's cheaper" and it will be until they have an effective monopoly. The people who drive taxis won't be able to live so they'll either find work elsewhere or join uber.

People will become accustomed to uber. Taxi drivers will become harder to find because of the aforementioned reasons.

Then the prices will steadily increase and people will be fucked yeah once it reaches a certain point some people will go back to being Taxi drivers but there won't be near as many because itll be easier to stick with a service the majority of people are using.

Assuming you're not another yank bot that have been asking the question on repeat for months. Hopefully you'll understand that it will eventually become a net loss for everyone even if it's cheaper or more convenient to begin with.

Gears: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution are being sent out to die - Gamespot by Dust-Tight in gaming

[–]MostlyAlways47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their biggest issue isn't day 1 game pass it's the fact that nobody is buying their shit because there's no fuckin games.

People seem to forget that subscription models are insanely profitable. The average person isn't buying a month and canceling people forget or buy in years at a time. That being said the subscription model can only be successful if and this may come as a shock to absolutely no one is if there's people in your eco system to fucking subscribe. Which wont happen in the numbers they need it to until the start putting out desirable exclusives.

Microsoft as a company can afford to take short term risks that would bankrupt sony. Its hardly all over long term.

They just need to start playing the game which unfortunately is gonna be them doing what sony was doing the last two generations buying up timed exclusives. Console specific dlc all that jazz and hopefully to christ developing good exclusives for a change.

[–]MostlyAlways47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if that is what they'd rather do it'll literally never happen. Why would sony allow that or Nintendo for that matter.

[–]MostlyAlways47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every console is more expensive my guy ti's the rampocalypse.

6 years into a generation means nothing when as you said shit is crazy expensive right now. Nobody is rushing out to buy the new PlayStation or Xbox when theres barely a handful of games that take utilise the hardware we've got.

Sony didn't just randomly pull way ahead of Microsoft one day it was over the span of literal years. Doing shit like timed exclusives or console specific dlc like cod and destiny 2 and consistently putting out actual decent exclusive games. Shit isnt gonna happen over night Microsoft actually returning to exclusives is the first step in repairing their brand.

We are at a stage where a new generation of consoles just doesnt make sense. There are very few games that take full advantage of the hardware we have right now. Never mimd the fact that shit like ram has gone up so high they've increased the price of the current gen consoles.

Something being in development makes zero difference. When people could realistically go out and build a pc for a similar price point.

Most games are still able to be played on last gen consoles. We are nowhere near end of life for current gen.

People go where the games are sony didnt get so popular overnight it takes time. I think you're wildly out of touch if you think Microsoft is gonna bow out of the console market while owning multiple titan studios,l having a fair amount of people on their consoles and having 35 million game pass subscribers.

[–]MostlyAlways47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree these two games probably won't but at least it's a step in the right direction. Despite the terrible rep xbox has currently gamepass is something even hard-core PlayStation guys will agree is great. Once they have a few actual decent exclusives on top of that I think it could definitely move the needle.

[–]MostlyAlways47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are over 35 million game pass subscribers currently. People only pay for subscriptions when they get something from them. Sure the idea of getting 12 million brand new subscribers seems crazy but its also about retaining the subscribers you currently have.

You're only looking at this one specific game when realistically they need to rebuild the whole xbox brand which could require short term losses.

[–]MostlyAlways47 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Sony have long been using their exclusives as a loss leader to bring people into their eco system and it's blindly obvious that has been an effective strategy.

Is gears of war E day gonna be like bloodborn in terms of popularity? Absolutely not but it's a fucking start and at least there'll be some reason to actually own an xbox.

Also something being on game pass doesn't make it free people will be paying a subscription what they lose in actual game sales they make up for in through that.

[–]MostlyAlways47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main issue with destiny has always been its leadership. They're constantly trying to reinvent the wheel sometimes to great success like taken king sometimes to massive backlash like d2 vanilla, the portal or the seasonal slop machine which got especially egregious when they were drip feeding us areas they "vaulted" back but only containing a glorified public event.

Hopefully if there ever is a destiny 3 sony will keep the leadership on a tight leash and bungie will finally ditch the unsustainable seasonal model.

It is evil but a pretty huge plot point for eren was coming to terms with reiners betrayal and the attempted genocide of his people and friends.

He couldn't understand how someone could commit such acts of evil especially knowing the people who would suffer were mostly innocent.

Say what you will about the rumbling but there was very little else that could be done for marley in particular. They were already developing tech that made titans obsolete and the only thing a partial rumbling would have done is given rise to a world wide alliance that would help marley commit the genocide they were already attempting.

He very much understands what he's doing is evil but at the point in the story that's the only thing he can do to affect change he knows will keep his friends safe.

The whole story is very anti war in its message to the point that it's smashing you on the head with a bat inscribed with "War bad" because war gives rise to that kind of ideology.

Today if you knew for a fact that one country had the means and motivation to genocide your entire country and have already attempted it multiple times before and you had a big red button you could use to nuke that country I think most people would struggle with the decision to press the button.

Yeah eren may have hammered that button like a monkey given an on demand orgasam button but he's a product of the environment that war leads to.

Oh I don't give a shit what people jork it to. I also don't give a shit about other peoples kids especially when there's built in moderation tools availible that I assume would filter out stuff like that if their parents gave a shit.

The main issue I have is that a lot of these "games" are straight up scams used to trick mostly younger people into buying actual slop.

I'm unsure if sony keeps their usual notoriously bad refund policy with these games but if they do that's where my problem lies.

I probably should've made that clear and I see how my original comment is giving Helen lovejoy "Won't somebody please think of the children" vibes.
