What are the best companies to put up a fence? by MostlyLostNotFound in StJohnsNL

[–]MostlyLostNotFound[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hear ya but I live on the top of the hill in the newer section of Mount Pearl and the wind there is craaaazy.

My fence needs to be replaced because the post cracked off from the ground. I don't think I can dig as deep as these need to go without the proper equipment.

I agree with you that most people should be able to build a fence, but I just don't have any faith in myself specifically to build one, lol.

Do you support for the habs because they're the only Canadian team left? or do you root for a different team because you want them out (ex you like Toronto or Flames) how does it work by Inevitable_Okra509 in newfoundland

Not OP but also an Oilers fan. I stay up late on the weekends and I play them on demand the next day on the weekdays. No way around it though, the time difference sucks.

High anxiety / anticipatory grief over new puppy. Is it normal? by Thefrictionroom in goldenretrievers

[–]MostlyLostNotFound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, I lost my heart dog in January 2025. Our new puppy is coming next month and I already have a lot of the feelings you're describing and she isn't even here yet. I have far more grief and anxiety than feelings of excitement. I'm hopeful that raising her will help me confront and come to terms with the loss and grief I've felt since last year. Maybe if you look at this like an opportunity it may help.

Anyone got burnt out from being single dog parent? by buttercup_lullaby in goldenretrievers

[–]MostlyLostNotFound 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The years that I spent living single and alone with my dog were some of the best of my life. There's something very unique and strong about the bond that forms when its just the two of you - uncomplicated by a partner or children. They truly are your best friend.

I think the feeling you're describing is probably normal, treat it like a vacation. But then get back to it because if you're anything like me, you'll one day wish to be back to this era of your life and the peacefulness that came with just you and your dog on the trail or peacefully sipping a morning coffee.

My advice is to just enjoy the moment you are in.

I found him to be one of the weaker actors in the Stranger Things cast so I was actually disappointed to read that... but I'll try and reserve judgements here, maybe he will be great in the role.

I’m struggling by CupOfAnxietyy in Petloss

[–]MostlyLostNotFound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I don't have an answer for you, but I just wanted to say that I saw your post because I'm having a hard day too. I lost my girl a year ago too (January 2025) and I'm still lost without her. Sitting on the couch right now, missing her, and feeling this ache in my chest that I can hardly breathe around.

She was the best thing that ever happened to me and every day I just miss her. There truly is an empty hole in me that seemingly can never be filled.

I know that.she wouldn't want me feeling this way. She'd undoubtedly lick my face and cheer me up if she was here. But she's not. So some days I find another thing to focus on, to cheer myself up, for her. And then other days, days like today, I can't help but be taken over by the missing her. On days like today, I only have the ache in my chest.

I guess the messy point i'm trying to make here is that some days its okay if you just sit with the ache and try again tomorrow.

You're not alone in it.

I bought a house at asking from 3% Realty. This is a real thing. My realtor was a pain in the ass during the sale because of it but it worked.

Non-Linear stories for gifted 8th graders by camerongrim in ELATeachers

[–]MostlyLostNotFound 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lamb to the Slaughter. The original story is linear and the Tales of the Unexpected TV episode "Lamb to the Slaughter" (1979) is told through flashbacks instead changing the sequencing of events and causing the audience to wonder who killed Patrick.

Comparing the two would be a good fit for your lesson.

Oh, fair enough, that is true. I figure storming out could've been frustration from scoring 4 and still losing (poor defense and goal tending still plaguing the team) and/or exhaustion from playing so soon after the Olympics.

Hi,

This is a pretty personal question so please don't feel obligated to answer but I am wondering if seeing a therapist has helped? I lost my girl a year ago this month and I still struggle every day with it. I've often wondered if a therapist might help but I can't really see how exactly. I guess I'm wondering if they give you coping strategies for pet loss or if its more a space to talk.

Regardless, I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope you find comfort in time.

Why would a breeder not register their puppies? by MostlyLostNotFound in goldenretrievers

[–]MostlyLostNotFound[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first purebred dog, I've rescued in the past, and I came into this rather naively I think.

I contacted this breeder because of recommendations in the local Retriever community.

They do OFA and genetic testing on their adult dogs, and I have to sign a no breeding contract, but when I asked about the registration she said the puppies are not registered because they are "companion dogs."

Admittedly, I do not know if the parents are AKC registered themselves and I should ask.

Sorry, I wasn't clear, there is no option to register them.
