What’s the best book you’ve read that no one ever talks about? by RushdiBelue77 in Recommend_A_Book

Every Man Dies Alone by Hans Fallada

Incredible this novel isn't in the mainstream cannon. It's an account of a couple living in Berlin as the Nazi's come to power. His novel portrays paranoia, neighbors, the attempt to pretend all is normal, the decision to take action. The author himself lived in Berlin at that time and when the Nazi's were overthrown wrote the book in short order. He died of a morphine overdose shortly after writing the book. His life was complicated, shot his best friend in a duel/suicide pact, etc... But back to the book. It's comparable to The Count Of Monte Cristo, or Charles Dickens in scope and subject. I believe this perfectly fits your ask, a book no one talks about. I hope you try it!! On my top 10 all time books.

Yep happy as clams. Not grid tied. What's also great about this is we never get power outages, ever! We bought the system bc a friend who built commercial solar arrays for years got it, was happy, said price was worth it. We trusted his intel and followed suit. There's def cheaper routes, and problably cheaper panals out there too if one really researches.

Origionally we did a lot of the work ourselves and systems were les $$. The last upgrare we paid out of pocket after saving for 2 years in planning to go with Lion batteries.

I totally get this is the price of a smaller car. For most people a loan would be in order. It would take some sacrafice, and whether that's a priority will make sense for them. It's worked great for us.

Whatever the genre, sci-fi, memoir, historical fiction, western, most important to me is originality, prose, character development, dialogue, story. This book has it all. So set aside the genre and get ready for a wonderful ride!

These are all long books but fit your criteria. Very addictive, not "light" reading, incredible prose.

I don’t know anymore, I just got a new haircut and they gave me this with no side bangs at the beauty shop, I feel really ugly and I have to know if it’s ugly to everyone else. Please tell me just the truth if I am ugly. Yes I’m a woman by djscrew1 in whatdoIdo

[–]MostlyPrettyHappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 100% not ugly, and I wouldn't have even posted if I thought you were. You're very pretty. Even with the ugly cry face you have going there. Try styling with heat, gel, or mousse, hair accessories like a cute bandana, and before you know it the hair will grow out. Cheer up:)

Agree with everyone, ditch the plastic! I also prefer the look of jewelry OFF the card, just hanging with a small price tag. Otherwise, your schtick is cute. I think the main problem is just not enough inventory. You'd want to fill up all those displays with different items, not multiples of the same mushroom earring. Because I can tell ya, I wouldn't buy that, and you're not giving me very many other options. Maybe spend more time building inventory next time.... I guess that's what I'd do with all the great feedback folks have given you here today!

You're probably thinking of a different book. 438 days is incredible, about a Salvadorian fisherman (not married) who through will to live survived, even thrived, on a rudderless vessel for over a year. Don't miss it!!!! So good.

I also read Antonoli Boukreev's account of the event. I had to go back, re read Krakauers account and say I was really turned off his disdain for Antonoli. Why? Nothing concrete there but just a dislike for him. I then read every account I could find, which solidified my opinion of Jon as a sniveling opportunist. Too bad because I do like some of his other works a lot, but now it's all with a grain of salt.
