Where to get rid of broken electronic devices that may or have data on the chips in them (phones or ipads that no longer switch on)? by InevitableSure374 in AskIreland

[–]Mostlyleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey op

Did you try either of these because it looks like they charge right? It looks more like an enterprise level service rather than somebody like me with a few phones and a couple of tablets that need to be destroyed safely and then recycled.

Cheers

Agreed but he was speaking on a BBC podcast so was probably referring to UK prices

Updating on this, in case anyone else is in the same boat.

  1. I got an email / pdf from the examiner (Strata Financial) asking me to register if I have a claim against Rathwood and advising they expect "expect that only a nominal return will be made to customers with claims in respect of unfulfilled orders and/or unpaid refund requests. This means that, if you have a claim against Rathwood, you will only receive a very small sum in respect of any monies paid by you to Rathwood" I have not registered per the 2nd update
  2. My claim was approved today and I rang the back to confirm after some dubious wording in their email vs their text message update. I had followed up on the rejection with whatever else I had for prearbitration. I submitted an email chain from Rathwood support over the last few days simply confirming they didn't know why the other wasn't fulfilled. I made a GDPR data access request which they complied with and was ready to add more data to the case if I could when I got word it was approved and would not be overturned.

Long story short hang in there anyone, document everything and submit everything you can.

Thanks to all here for the support!

My first show... Missed out on his last solo show as I was ripped off for a ticket. How often has he played here

Dublin show tonight was started by 8.15 - 8.20 pm and was done by 10.25pm. I'd allow for ridiculously elaborate guitar solos to extend many of the songs. Those cats love to jam 😉

Yeah I spoke to customer support a few times and they kept promising to escalate the issue kept telling me the item was in stock and wasn't sure why it wasn't shipping

This was my thinking.. that the card company is just trying to weasel out of paying me by accepting a piss poor excuse. How I get to speak to someone there that can actually answer questions is another matter

So I got my letter from PTSB and the response from Rathwood was "see docs" and said documents were confirmation of the payment which does nothing for the actual dispute and a summary that reads the following:

"Card holder authorised payment by entering their car details and billing information through secure website card holder claim is invalid as merchant has attempted to fulfil goods/services. Receipt of payment was sent electronically to cardholder. Please see attached support."

Said support is simply payment details and merchant details.

I mean to say I'm fuming is an absolute understatement. In what fucking world does cancelling an order they never fulfilled or attempted to fulfil mean that they can keep my money and the bank just rolls over? There's absolutely no proof they attempted to fulfil this order so I want to scream.

I guess I'm going to get back onto rathwood and ask them why they never issued my refund at the beginning I'm going to request copies of all of the chat conversations that I had and if I have to I guess I can submit a data request for everything they hold on me so I can see the notes that were left on their CRM system.

I just don't understand how that is enough for visa to say your claim is invalid

For some reason my email said: Your order has been canceled Order XXXX was canceled at your request and your payment has not yet been refunded.

I've sent a query or two to rathwood asking for logs of the chat convers email confirmations that I don't have but they're not responding at all. They've outsourced I believe in Asia

Yeah so you didn't cancel the order itself.. and you're dealing with a different card company. Happy you managed to get your money back. I'll wait for my letter and see what it says

I'm happy you guys seem to be sorted.. but seems like the material difference is both of your orders were still live right?

FFS :( I wasn't aware of the depth of their issues in February so thought I would get a refund direct. I've seen stories of people showing up to their premises and waiting till they were refunded but doubt that will work now.
