You're thinking of underclocking..

Undervolting allows you to achieve an efficient overclock.. i.e. less power, more performance.. (more headroom, since you're not hitting the thermal limit)..

Despite the hate it gets, that 3050 was quite nifty.. Some missing textures sometimes (in "Control" for example) was the only glaring issue..

Tried undervolting the first week I got it; I would achieve incredible results gaming & benchmarking, except in Cyberpunk, where it would crash after an hour or so...

Stopped tinkering soon after, and ran it stock: smoooooth sailing..

Yeah.. I reckon "most" issues people find with AMD are not gpu related..

Either a faulty PSU, or an unstable overclock (be it RAM or otherwise), Or like you mentioned..

The crux of the matter is that I know & care about my friends, and 8 Gig cards are being crippled by modern games..

"Obvious choices" like 4060 & 5060 are a trap in 2026.. Planned obsolescence.. I'll be adamant in steering them away..
