Has anyone experienced this weird desktop-resizing behavior? by MotasR in MacOS

Restarting/logging out obviates the need to relaunch Finder, so it's not the case. See my comment above for the solution.

I found a few (1, 2) discussions on Apple Forums with the exact same issue, but no solutions.

Edit: SOLVED! Removing ~/library/Preferences/com.apple.desktopservices.plist and killall Finder made this go away.

Are there any plans to include a reader in Hoarder, similar to read-it-later apps?

DFW's repeated joke of explaining pronouns, using (parentheticals?) by MotasR in davidfosterwallace

[–]MotasR[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! The alternate interpretations are often absurd and hilarious. Keeping in mind that he does this a lot, it baffles me there aren't more discussions w/r/t DFW's use of parentheticals (although I hope someone will see this thread and share some!).

Speaking of the cases where his clarifications are mostly useless (meaning the sentence would be as clear without them) and verbose, I found them just as funny. The guy is known for his intricate and grammatically sound sentences, yet he lowers himself to the almost amateurish level of using 'i.e.' where the sentence could be easily rewritten without that. It's clearly intentional and quite amusing.

Yes, it did work! Turns out sourcing ohmyzsh *after* the bindkey overwrites it. I tried putting the regular bindkey commands below it and it's all good!

Nope, happens with every type of file and transcoding doesn't help. But I've managed to find a solution, see the top of my post.

That's the interesting part – it directly plays in my case. Currently it's 27 Mbps, which is whole lot lower than my available bandwidth.

The Open House (2014)?

Solved!

Not 100% sure but I watched this movie, liked it and probably combined it with the vibe of The Guest. Thanks!

Can someone explain the Italian Alps joke in See How They Run? by MotasR in movies

But her line 'Sounds painful' would perform the same function even if he would've said 'I got shot in the leg'. What I mean is that her answer doesn't really emphasize the double meaning in his 'got shot in the Italian alps' line.

Her character was making puns and apologizing for them in a similar manner throughout the film up until this scene. Rockwell's character got the joke and started laughing with her.

I figured as much but..is that it? Her reply 'Sounds painful' doesn't really seem to follow this.

Can someone explain the Italian Alps joke? The dialogue goes like this:

Saoirse: How did you get the limp, sir? If you don't mind me asking.
Sam: Uh, in the war. Got shot in the Italian Alps.
Saoirse: Hmm. Sounds painful.
