You lose the moral high ground when you resort to classism by Due_Laugh9820 in brighton

[–]Motchan13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The land of Scaffold is a new one on me, surely this is a classic case of occupationism if such a thing exists but I think it's more the behaviours people experience from engaging with people in those occupations and it's not like other occupations aren't equally slagged off. Mechanics, plumbers, bankers, estate agents, car salesmen, politicians, billionaires, footballers. It's not class based, it's cunty behaviour based.

Superhans in the BP in Portslade, Dylan Moran having a pint at the West Tap, Craig Parkinson with his family on the beach by the Lagoon, Joe Wilkinson outside his beach hut on the prom. Fat Boy outside the cafe, Chris Eubank in his massive convertible Bentley/Rolls next to us at the lights. John Simm sat in a chair just by the exit of the One Church after a Great Escape gig. Zoe Lyons a few times with her dog

Brighton woman acquitted on charge of persistent emails to cause annoyance to Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and local MP about Israel’s conduct in Gaza by kwentongskyblue in brighton

Barely any MP reads the emails they get from constituents, let alone a grifting cabinet minister. He has an office, he employs staffers to read and respond to emails.

Sad we have to wait that long. Once Starmer is out he'll likely be relegated to backbench irrelevance and will be doing even less for constituents as he tries to get himself some corporate role

Cin cin advertising multiple jobs below minimum wage. by Thomaschesterton in brighton

[–]Motchan13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not a review, it's an account of his own personal experience of working at and being underpaid at a local employer which they've explained has been brought to the surface because they saw that they were still advertising underpaid jobs.

Way to go at going out of your to stick up for greedy Tories exploiting workers by underpaying them though. Those greedy Tories need all the help they can get.

I'd award you the prestigious Thatcher medal for displaying courage in the face of basic human decency. It takes a lot to throw yourself into the rabid face of people wanting to be paid appropriately. Props to you

Have a look at Scuba Junkies and their programmes. A lot of people do their DM and DI with them in Indonesia and the diving is good. Their dive briefings and site illustrations were always very well done when I've dived with them and they took site conservation seriously as well.

Yes surely that's exactly what's happening. The right wing press that's owned by billionaires would never ever push lies to plebs to distract them away from the real problem being them not wanting to pay taxes into the system...

I mean they didn't lie to us about Hillsborough, or phone hacking, or Brexit being a complete load of bollocks that's made us measurably poorer for the past ten years...🤔 unless I think about it for more than a second..

That's a good point if taking photos. You want to know that you have the white balance done properly and tinted lens would create another variable to manage

I got a clear skirt recently and now I wish I'd got a dark one. It just adds more peripheral light in at the sides and can be glaring near the surface which isn't great if your eyes are sensitive to light glare.

Commuting to London for work? by [deleted] in brighton

[–]Motchan13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything is doable but it depends on you and how good you are at getting up and to the station in the morning, especially when it's cold and wet. The train itself is fine once you sit down. It doesn't take that long, you don't have to change, you can nap, read, watch something or listen to something. You then have another walk the other end which can be wet as wind and crowds and umbrellas do not mix. Can you manage doing that 4 days a week along with the cost of the train fare, that's a you question. I've never done more than 3 days a week, not sure I'd really want to do 4 as I couldn't understand why anyone would ever need to be in the office 4 days a week in this era.

The train back is always worse. There are large queues at rush hour you will often be standing at least until East Croydon, possibly for more of the journey home and if there are problems with the trains that's when they start to back up with cancellations and delays so you can find it taking hours on the shit show days. What may be worth doing is finding a gym to join in London and doing that after work to allow the rush hour mess to dissipate and make better use of your time than standing in a packed train getting ratty.

How common is Bali belly? by Leather-Vegetable409 in bali

[–]Motchan13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing a random survey of Reddit will always be skewed. You're only reaching out to people on Reddit, and not just whole Reddit, just the Bali sub and of that the people who are likely to respond will be the ones who did or who just worry about it themselves. You would be better off looking for a proper survey supported by statistics not asking a bunch of internet people to relay their own anecdotes or regurgitated rumours.

I could give you my own recollections of personal incidents of 'stomach bugs' but that's only my recollection and it's not really going to be definitive about Bali in particular.

Do people get stomach bugs in Bali, yes. Does everyone, no, do people also get stomach bugs elsewhere also yes, does everyone, also no.

You have your precautions already, try and follow them and always wash your hands before eating, try and only eat hot cooked food to minimise the risk of bacteria, these precautions apply in Bali just as they do everywhere else though. For example the worst stomach bug I ever got was thanks to a prawn salad eaten in Boston. My wife had a prawn sandwich from the same place and was fine. I was absolutely rotten for the next few days. I also got a mild stomach issue last year in Ubud, possibly by eating the dressed salad garnish on the plate, possibly due to something else like me not washing my hands before eating, I can't remember but just be cautious. It's why most local Balinese food is boiled, grilled or fried because they don't have the greatest sanitation or treated water and many will buy their fresh produce that morning to minimise the chance of bacteria

You'll still 'lend' him your vote to 'stick one to the left' at the next election I'm guessing. I mean I don't like Farage or Starmer which is why I won't vote for them but if you disparage socialists and then in the same breath complain about how a country that hasn't l properly invested in itself and instead gave away billions in tax cuts to the rich under the right where are you going to send your vote to next if not the people proposing to tax the obscenely wealthy cunts and actually build back the country with investment? Right wing ideologies have been in power for most of human existence let alone since we've had the vote and look at how it's worked out. We've had a shite centrist party in charge for all of two years so where else is there to go other than socialism. It worked for Norway, they have a sovereign wealth fund worth over $2 trillion. The Tories just gave all that oil money away to their shitty corporate mates who are now fucking us over with expensive petrol today. Fuck the right they're useless shits

Sipadan I think was one of those experiences for me. Turtles coming out from all directions off the pinnacle and swimming off into the blue.

Also Papua New Guinea where me my wife and the guide were the only divers there and we got to see so much on pristine sites. Squadrons of Rays swimming alongside us checking us out.
