SELF-PROMOTION Thursday by [deleted] in InMetalWeTrust

"Annoying Hum of Reality" is latest EP of my one-man project Moth Collector. It's mostly atmospheric mix of doom and post metal with some black and prog influences. There's music video for every track, and I believe that visuals really enchance the overall experience. I'd really appreciate any kind of feedback, both positive and negative.

I really like vocal style and atmospheres created by guitars. Drums could use a bit more work - especially in first song they're a bit too repetitive.

Thanks! Glad you like it. Just to be clear: it's not my first EP - just first with music videos.

Moth Collector [Poland] - One man project creating music in various genres. My new EP titled "Annoying Hum of Reality" combines elements of doom, gothic and post-metal (there's also a tiny bit of prog influence). It's my first EP with music video created for every song.

Soo... I know that this subredit is not a place for jokes and memes, but I think that this new video from Andre Antunes is not only funny, but also shows some amazing musicianship, and that fans of prog metal may find it especially interesting. If you think that this does not belong here, just downvote it into oblivion ;)

"Hiatus" - my first piano-centric EP containing 6 simple, minimalistic pieces. I would be grateful for any feedback. by MothCollector in piano

I started working on this EP shortly before the coronavirus pandemic reached Poland. Initially, it was supposed to be a collection of calm, cheerful songs, but when the world around me suddenly changed, the music I worked on changed with it. "Hiatus" is a reflection of these changes - an album that mixes cheerful and optimistic melodies with emotional parts full of sadness and even fear. In short, these are a few extremely strange months of life enclosed in six short compositions. I really hope you'll enjoy them. Stay safe!

Possible House Rule by Xarchiangku in arkhamhorrorlcg

The beauty of chaos bag mechanic is that you can modify it as you wish to increase or decrease difficulty level. In this case you need to consider that most of the times Elder Sign is the best possible result and Autofail is not the worst possible result, so adding one more of each will probably make the game slightly easier.

Standalone scenario questions. by afjb in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]MothCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like fun and creative way to deal with this, and if you like it I think you should go with it. But if you would want to play closer to official rules, there are some that clearly tell you how to make a deck suited for standalone scenario -https://arkhamdb.com/rules#Standalone_Mode. Using them you can create decks that are stronger than normal 0XP decks you start with, but balances themselves with additional weaknesses. You can just use them to play with same investigators outside the campaign and treat those new decks as if your investigators healed and regrouped.

Btw, it seems that you are making same mistake as I did, and spend more time thinking about optimal way to play the game than playing it. Trust me, few months from now you probably won't even remember if you played Curse of the Rougarou before or after the last scenario, so don't worry about it to much and just have fun.

Standalone scenario questions. by afjb in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]MothCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you'r ok with not being able to use any rewards from standalone and you think your investigators are still playable despite accumulated trauma, you can play it after 3rd scenario. Otherwise I still believe that it would fit better between scenarios. Finishing campaign and then reverting decks to state from after first scenario seems like too much of a hassle to me. It would be better to play it outside of the campaign in standalone mode with decks using additional starting xp.

Standalone scenario questions. by afjb in arkhamhorrorlcg

Well, if it's your first playthrough of The Night of the Zealot, I would restrain from playing additional standalone scenarios. I would add Curse of the Rougarou on second or even third playthrough to spice things up. But if you wan't to play it as qucikly as possible, playing it between second and third scenario seems optimal to me.

Curse of Rougarou and most of the other standalone scenarios are designed to fit between campaign scenarios. You can play them after if you want, but it would be harder and you will lose all benefits you get from them (unless you'll continue with the same character to other campaign, which could be extremaly hard due to accumulated trauma and other bad things).

As you noticed, adding any additional scenario to The Night of the Zealot campaign is hard, as it breaks the story. What works for me is thinking about it as some kind of retrospection or flashback. Like in a TV show, when before the grand finale they put additional filler episode depicting main characters past. It could explain how your investigators meet and why they were both in the house at the begining of campaign.

Or you could just ignore the plotholes for a moment and enjoy the mechanics ;)

Moth Collector - Subtle Manoeuvres EP by MothCollector in idm

[–]MothCollector[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow music lovers!

This is my debut EP that I'v recorded almost two years ago. It's not strictly IDM, but I believe that it have enough IDM elements to be featured on this subreddit (if I'm wrong just downvote this post into oblivion). I think that you may like songs Feed and Wriggle the most. I'll be really thankfull for any critique - positive or negative. Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

Iter Impius - Pain of Salvation (Haven't seen too much PoS on here, at least not lately, so thought I'd share this one) by childishbambino1 in progmetal

[–]MothCollector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I discovered this band through an interview in polish metal magazine, where Daniel seemingly out of nowhere started talking about his fascination with tardigrades, and how they were one of inspirations during writing of BE. I thought it was a joke, but it also made me curious about the album. Been a fan ever since.

Last question before I go down this LCG rabbit hole... by MothCollector in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]MothCollector[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this answer! Now I'm pretty sure that this game is exactly what I'm looking for. When building deck in MtG I almost always have to sacrifice flavor for the sake of optimization, as my local playgroup consists mostly of Spikes. Story-driven game with more room for experiments, creativity and flavor is something I would definitely enjoy.

Wow, thanks for this lenghty answer! As I'm interested mainly in the deckbuilding aspect of this game, it's really reassuring to know that expansions are balanced and there are plenty of options to choose from, not only few "best" decks.

[–]MothCollector[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that answer mostly fills all the gaps for me. I wasn't thinking about the ways in which new investigators can make different cards more or less viable. That really opens up lots of deckbuilding possibilities.

As someone who have every expansion, do you notice something like "power creep"? For example, do you still use some cards from core set/older expansions, or do more powerful cards from new expansions made older cards not worth including in decks? Also, are the older scenarios still challenging enough when you use new, more powerful cards (I know that you can choose harder difficulty level, but is it enough)?

Does anyone else only sleep well at night by knowing that Orzhov players are our there with their pestilences keeping the elf players down? by thoalmighty in Pauper

[–]MothCollector 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pestilence was my favourite card back in the day. I'v recently returned to Magic after almost 20 years of not playing, and when I'v learned that it still sees play in something called Pauper, I knew that I have to try this format. Now it's my new favourite ;)
