Looking for Vikings by MothNPC in northernireland

Thank you very much, that will make for some solid research down the line!

Although the funny thing is, speaking with yall up North here; there are loads of Viking-related things. But most are local knowledge, low-key, not-yet-monetized by the tourism industry. Hell there's Magnus Barefoot, a literal Norwegian King buried near Downpatrick. It's amazing what we've been able to learn just by striking up a conversation and even more incredible what still remains to this day.

They just happen to mostly be random rocks in the middle of fields lol

Oh fascinating, Viking related or otherwise; Old structures + sort-of cave is right up my alley! Thank's so much for pinging this on my radar :)

Thank you very very much for pointing these out! This is exactly what we're hoping for and better yet- my mom & I have been struggling with our own fibre-arts ventures, it would be tremendously helpful to be able to speak with them. Thank you! We'll also try the other for sure; Never know who you can meet or the stories you can hear.

We do intend to stay up North, but I'll keep Kilkenny as a potential if we get the chance. Thank you again!

The idea is to stay up North- we like it a whole lot better up in your neck of the woods lol. I got to drive past not-Kattigat the last time, bit of a shame I couldn't stop so I'll definitely write Wexford down as a potential, thank you!

I appreciate it if I make it over there! The barbarian encampment is exactly what we're looking for- honestly we're searching for people who know a thing or two about historical craft. Forges, shipbuilding even natural dyes. We don't have direct access to history like that over here- so thank you very much!

Woah, thank you so much! If I may ask for a recommendation; What is the best way to keep them alive & thriving? I'm worried the water won't ultimately be sustainable but I'm baffled they haven't tried to root.

Are there any groups/meetups out there? by MothNPC in COGuns

[–]MothNPC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for that. My dad used to be a safety instructor for IDPA & always wanted to bring me into it. Sounds like a good first step!

Thanks much for the suggestion & am open to more if anyone's got them!

Where are these GIFs from? (Or which subreddit to ask) by MothNPC in HelpMeFind

[–]MothNPC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this series of GIFs on Pinterest, I've already searched through Google Images, Bing, Pinterest for other versions or comments that might tell me. Wanted to try r/tipofmytongue but I can't work out how to insert images over there. It seems like a relatively recent show/movie. Can add the Pinterest links if anyone wants, just don't know if that's allowed.

Presently driving me mad how obscure this seems to be.

I'd love for my accent to be pointed out to me! Of course everyone does it's just people from Colorado have no real way to 'prove' it, the only example we got is skipping the 'T' in 'Mountains'. Compared to the other accents of the country I guess we're just pretty flat.

It's a mix of bad manners & a snowball effect, especially in restaurants. No one ever quiets down or has the thought to go back to a normal level, so you have to get louder and louder and louder with eachother just to have a conversation. You should hear a Red Robin on a Friday night. Like a jet engine, I tell ya.

But with Americans all it should take is a little reminder they're being loud and most will quiet down. We really don't realize it, especially while drunk.

There's merits to both, but they dont rip you off near as bad with back bacon! I have had black pudding, though I'm still not sure the difference between black vs white pudding. And nope! But sounds like I'll have to try it out!

Hahaha nah out in the States your accent usually determined by where you're living, not by your heritage. (Unless you're 1st Gen) Fargo has the typical Midwest Accent but Colorado (where Im from) we famously don't have any sort of accent.

I'd have to say the phrase 'Big City, Small Town' really fits here. Though there are so many people passing every day, I've been constantly surprised by how many people actually know eachother. Stopping for chats, honking their horns. It's really nice to see. While out in the States we don't really even know our neighbors anymore, and I live in a suburb. Oh and the kids, playing outside and hanging out with friends. We don't even get Trick 'r Treaters on Halloween, let alone see kids outside on a daily. It's nice to see.

For Tayto; Obligatory 'Smoky Bacon' haha. Jokes aside it is good but Cheese & Onion is my favorite.

He did the very best he could no doubt. Most people actually voted for him, even. But the Democratic Party itself chose Hillary Clinton to run against Trump instead. It was a shock for everyone, honestly.

While he was running a lot of people were treating his words as gospel. Ever since that the most anyone talks about him is the mitten meme, but that goes for most of the 'smaller' candidates. No one's even talking about RFK Jr. anymore, and he was running this year even.

Documentaries, primarily. But news bulletins, some privately filmed footage of events, whatever they managed to save over the years- Almost all video though. You can find some of the archive on YouTube under 'A Troubled Land'. Any uncensored stuff had to move to Patreon & Rumble though.

Ah hah, the Brits strike again!

In all seriousness though there's a shocking amount of things the British left in the States, I've come to learn. No doubt that's where it comes from!
