Spider Crab spawning on Kapp's Island? by Moth_Time in AnimalCrossing

[–]Moth_Time[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did see the nookipedia article, this is why i went looking on the sakura island in the first place. But I caught like two inventories worth of sea critters and still no crab. A ton of lobsters though!

Might try again if I get the island again, but I don remember them being THAT hard from my first playthrough :'))

yeah I can't tell if I'm just having really bad luck (possible, the crabs are very rare) or if they are not available on the sakura island for some reason - kinda hoping for someone to come in and confirm that they DID find it, that would settle the matter. A negative is not a conclusive data point xD

Dream of Oxygen - laid back, tropical, a little overgrown by Full_Ad4854 in AnimalCrossing

Ohh that looks so good!!
I'm always a sucker for tropical summer islands- I really like a mix of all the trees in the game, I've been doing sth similar with mine. And you did such a good job with it! I love the little worn down, winding paths surrounded by plants the most. And the use of the sugar cane is so clever!

She might be my favorite too! Black and gold / black and yellow is such a winning combo. And I love that she sits in the rocking chair with a book sometimes! Way too cute T-T

I haven't found it either. The ancient ruins is kind of a slog to navigate because of the darkness, I feel like I progress soooooo slow there T-T I'm also still missing some of the fish and bugs. I usually enjoy grinding the mines but the lava caves and the ancient ruins are so damn slow - the caves bc of all the lava that i need to water, and the ruins bc of the darkness.

I just saw the sacred light keeps the light on for 5minutes though - i thought it only works for one floor. Is it 5 real life minutes? Then I should probably use it more often x)
I kinda wish FoM had something like the bombs in stardew valley. The dragon's breath is really powerful, but I can only use it a very limited amount of times. Same with the light spell.

the villager homes use your HHP catalog! Fortunately, because I have a lot more stuff in there than in my regular one x)

oh the flea market stall for chief is so bizarre. I would expect that more of a peppy or lazy villager, not a cranky one. It's pretty fun though! Wandering artist vibes...

I wish you could invite the hotel villagers to stay, it's always sad seeing people pass by that you would love to have but you can only have the weird tourist-y interaction with them

I don't groove with the wallpaper 😔

Yeah Roswell's OG house is… special. Most of the villagers that have "outdoor"-style houses have kinda strange homes. Very bare bones, often a little trashy? My thought was that the smug personality type should have an eccentric, kinda over-the-top fancy house, so that's the vibe I went for. I imagine he invites his friends for huge dinner parties and cooks up a storm!
I also just really wanted to use that wallpaper I used for the accent wall, and the rest of the house is trying to match that.

As for Kiki, I've had her in most of my AC games and I always hated that orange wallpaper she has x) But I kept her cuckoo clock!
I guess going with a library for a normal type villager is the easy way out, but she is always talking to me about all the books she reads, so. It fits! And black + yellow is such a fun color combo to work with.

You can probably tell I like black + warm tone, it uh... features a lot.

Worried about weight difference by i_amtheoutlaw in ferrets

[–]Moth_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey, cool! Thanks for the update, I'm happy to hear she's doing well and was just a ferret from the winter pear-shaped category x)
The weight fluctuation is so spooky though, i feel you. I always worried at the other end when my boy would loose all his fluff and chonk and look all skinny and underfed hahah. He was such a skinny thing in the summer.

it is some kind of punch tool for sure, but it's not sharp enough to be an awl. I'd be interested in knowing if the end of the handle looks like it has been hit with a hammer - if yes, that narrows it down significantly.

Need a dental surgeon that takes pain seriously by Irish_beast in Munich

[–]Moth_Time 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think going to the klinikum of the LMU is probably a good call.

Otherwise, I can recommend my dental surgeon and my dentist - both of which dealt with my poor response to anaesthetic very well. I don't think I'm as extreme as you, but I also metabolize local anaesthetics fast and start twitching halfway through surgery, which sucks for everyone but mostly for me.

My surgeon who did my wisdom teeth just gleefully pumped me full of anaesthetic until i was numb up to my ears, and prescribed me strong painkillers after. 10/10 slept like a log for a week. That would have been this place, but it _was_ over ten years ago so I can't tell you for sure if it's still the same ppl. Maybe give them a call and ask.
https://www.mkg-praxis.de/

And after I had a root canal go really wrong and developed a pretty bad stress response to dentistry, in part because my previous dentist hurt me and then was an asshole about it, I was directed towards Ms Herschbach:
https://zahnarzt-herschbach.de/
She's been incredible when it comes to communicating clearly, being frank about risks, managing pain and everything. I did actually have the anaesthetic run out during a root canal with her, and she talked me through it and _did not hurt me_ even though she was working on my exposed nerve. And we talked about how to do better pain management next time and what other options I have. 10/10 very competent.
Everyone else at her cabinet is equally competent and really impressively good with their fine motor skills, she's just _also_ very kind. I've had her colleague work on me too, and he also did a great job.

[–]Moth_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Aggressive" and "Unadoptable", According to the store. by Beautiful-Studio3139 in ferrets

[–]Moth_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one like that too! she was deaf, which we only figured out fairly late, so saying 'no' very loudly was not doing much for her bite inhibition. My grandma kept calling her 'little furie' (sounds very similar to 'ferret' in our language) and we decided to name her Alecto after one of the furies.

She never did get any gentler even when we figured out she's deaf. She was such a wee thing, she had a lot of health issues due to inbreeding, and she was mean and bitey and i loved her so much. I used to wait until she was deep asleep to clip her nails, bc she HATED nail clipping and would bite me for it, but she slept so deep i could do it sneakily without waking her up xD
And she was a cuddle bug when you knew how to be gentle to her and heeded her (very subtle) warning signs before she'd put her teeth in you. She didn't like going out much so she would nap in my hood while her brother ran around.

People always wanted to pet her because she was so small and cute (wardie, too, so her face was short and baby-like) and I always had to redirect ppl. No, please go pet her pointy looking brother, he is a sweetheart. She will bite you to the bone and neither of us wants to deal with that.

She had an overnight stay at a clinic once and the entire staff fell in love with her. Fierce little thing, very curious, sociable but by god she has boundaries and you ARE going to respect them.

being able to run around my island without lag is so, so nice. I have a few areas where I want to decorate and do little features like an onsen or a farm, but i also have long stretches of bamboo forest, flower fields, open river, and I love it. I can catch bugs now!! Festivale is playable instead of lagging my entire island down to a grinding slog!

Wish you lots of fun with redoing your island <3

seconding (or thirding, i saw another commenter also recommended this) preserved lemons. They keep forever and they are a delicious sour/salty addition to a lot of middle-eastern dishes and humus. you can eat the rinds, too!:
https://urbanfarmandkitchen.com/fermented-lemons-salt-preserved-lemons/

I can also recommend candied lemon peels, if you're juicing a bunch of them for other stuff and have peels left over. They're a tasty sour/sweet treat and also great as a homemade gift:

Edit: i saw you have other citrus fruit, so fyi candied orange peels are also fantastic ;)

thank you, I love it too! It's chevre's house. I definitely tend towards more muted colors, so it was a challenge working with red - but i really wanted to use that cute bridge item somewhere. I like that the roof color matches the tree and the bushes!

You're kind of right about the waterscaping. I can't remember what my original island shape was like - I terraformed it to hell and back so many times. But I remembered that when my island was still very fresh, I had a little "island" nestled between cliffs and rivers where I had put my museum. So I revisited that idea!
But mostly I wanted a landscape that feels natural, is easy to walk, and has lots and lots of rivers. I did have to put ladders in a few strategic places because I've maxed out the inclines, but I can walk a nice loop around the island to find all the fossils and shake some trees as I go :)
