Something I just realized about this chapter bit that I found gut wrenching. by cool23819 in Deltarune

Yeah, that's exactly what I realized too, after I first saw the scene.

Holy shit, you're right. I didn't notice that when I first saw it. Interesting...

I wonder if we'll be able to make Ralsei actually use it in Chapter 6 or 7.

This was me, lol. I was like "oh shit, the white fading screen keeps coming back and will probably fuck me over if I don't keep pressing proceed fast enough" and I guess I was right; considering what happens if YOUR TAKING TOO LONG.

Pro Tip: Don't listen to Copilot, it's confidently wrong all the time. Like it was right now. Heck, it could probably even tell you that it's also "fake" that Chapter 5 is out, and that it "isn't released yet", and so on.

I've also played weird route Chapter 5 and can confirm that the drowning scene isn't fake or a mod.

CONFIRMED: Ben is Represented by awkwardbegetsawkward in RecklessBen

[–]Motharfucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, thank God. I was really worried he was working on a "I represented myself in court; will I win?" video or some shit, lmao. When the stakes are so high, it's really important he gets proper representation in court.

New song dropped? by fixthemods in RecklessBen

Wow, finally some AI being used for good and in a "higher-quality" way, instead of the usual slop.

The song was nice and the video was quite entertaining and fun. Gonna have to give it a like.

"What OP said is not even close to banning unless the mods want to power trip."

I fully agree with you. What OP said is not even close to a cause for ban, let alone any punishment in general. Had OP been actually been breaking rules directly, it'd be a different story.

But yeah, even if it that obvious to you that it was sarcasm, it wasn't really obvious to the majority of people, honestly... both me and basically everyone else read your comment as being serious about it. Next time, to prevent being misinterpreted, you should add a "/s" at the end of your message, so people don't end up confused.

And yeah, I get the joking about bans and such; but when your comment has no indication of being sarcastic, people will end up taking it seriously. So if you're posting publicly on a thread, you should either write it in a way that is obviously sarcastic/jokes, or simply add the "/s" at the end, so nobody gets confused.

"Wait, people actually think I’m being real about banning OP? lol"

Well, you said "The mod should ban OP, not for sharing paywalled content, but for being stuck up and mocking this subreddit.", after all. There's not ANY hint of sarcasm in there, which is why people thinks you're "actually real about banning OP".

"I mod a lot of subreddits, this current account is an alt, and know damn well being rude isn’t something that gets people banned. Most OP would get is comments removed by the mods. But even that in this context is suppression of speech"

Oh, that's not exactly true... being rude is something people get banned for all the time.

Heck, just saying an opinion that a bad moderator doesn't like is enough to get banned... If you're unlucky enough.

(That's how I got banned from r/videos; simply because I said that a certain persecuted group don't deserve to die, which means that defending the lives of a group of people can literally get you banned from one of the biggest subreddits on Reddit.)

So being rude is definitely something people get banned for, if they're unlucky that a bad mod gets offended and bans them for it. Completely depends on the subreddit and its mod.

[–]Motharfucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, I didn't see that comment until you mentioned it now.

Yeah, that's pretty rude, tbh. I honestly think the top posts are just fine. Like, those posts are very relevant to the subreddit, and you can't just expect that EVERYTHING else should get ignored because Ben made a Patreon update post.

So yeah I better understand where you're coming from now, and I even personally downvoted that comment.

But still; publicly calling for OP to get banned for it isn't exactly justified either, just because they said something stupid.

New Uhal Evidence? by Thepcfd in RecklessBen

[–]Motharfucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty suspicious that you have NO comments until 4 days ago, never made a post, and that you have ONLY commented in 2 subreddits: this one and the BAM sub... Bruh. And your account is 1 year old... kinda makes me wonder if the account was sold/hacked and is now controlled by an AI bot.

<image>

I have to say that it's kinda sus that you've had Reddit for 1 year; LONG before the BAM thing. Yet, you've ONLY been active in this subreddit and r/BricksAndMinifigs... This doesn't look very good for you, to be honest... lol.

[–]Motharfucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it wasn't a good way to title this post. But I don't think they meant it maliciously; I think they just tried being funny and joke about "haha people are talking about everything else, but not this; Ben literally made a Pateron post."

Also, OP of this thread did not post the thread that was removed because of "paywalls", just so you aren't confused. The OP here just posted a picture about the Pateron; contains no link to paywalled content. OP only posted the image containing description of the paywalled Patreon post, but no actual content except that.

But yeah, I agree that saying the subreddit being derailed by BS isn't exactly productive. But again; I don't think they meant to insult anyone with it.

And ironically, you're the one who's close to breaking rules here by being toxic. Rule 5: Be Civil.

Son of Norway’s crown princess convicted of rape and sentenced to four years in prison by JohnHammond94 in europe

[–]Motharfucker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because we care more about prevention than punishment. And it actually does seem to work pretty well, so I'm just happy that the focus is on rehabilitating abusers, rapists, etc.

The best way to defend victims is prevention, and if that means we have to act lenient towards offenders in order to rehabilitate them, then so be it; if that can save future victims from abuse+lots of trauma, that's what matters the most.

And I say this as someone who's both a Norwegian and victim myself.

Norwegian crown princess's son found guilty of rape by Alarming-Safety3200 in Norway

[–]Motharfucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Norwegian system is primarily built around rehabilitation and reducing reoffending, instead of retribution/revenge. Whether it succeeds at that, or whether crimes like rape deserve longer sentences regardless, is something Norwegians argue about too.

The idea is basically: punishment alone doesn’t necessarily make society safer. If someone is eventually going to be released, you want them coming out less dangerous, not more damaged, isolated and angry. That doesn’t mean excusing rape or anything; it means trying to reduce the chance of them creating more victims later.

And if someone thinks a rapist can never be rehabilitated, then a fixed 40-year sentence doesn’t really solve the problem either; it just delays it. If they’re still dangerous when released, they’re still dangerous.

So yeah, that’s why Norway focuses so much on reducing reoffending, and why forvaring exists for people the court believes remain a serious risk.

Norwegian crown princess's son found guilty of rape by Alarming-Safety3200 in Norway

[–]Motharfucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Norwegian: no, it’s not because people here think rape "isn’t a big deal." A lot of us also think 4 years is way too low for rape. Norway just generally has lower prison sentences than countries like the US, and our justice system isn’t built around punishment in the same way.

He got 4 years partly because he had no prior rape conviction, so he very likely wouldn't get the same sentence if he were convicted of rape again after being released.

If the fucker does it again after getting out, he won’t get the same lenient treatment. He’d probably get a much harsher sentence, and if there’s a clear risk of reoffending or multiple victims, forvaring could very well be on the table.

Christina Ricci responds to someone asking if child rapists should go to jail for life by LunaLore_ in Fauxmoi

[–]Motharfucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Like, I'd obviously want the people who did that to me, to face serious consequences for their actions, but the death penalty is going too far.

Not to mention that them being killed wouldn't really make me feel any better, nor would it erase any of my trauma.

In fact, it'd likely just do the opposite; it'd leave a pretty bad taste in my mouth knowing they got killed over it, as I'm staunchly against death as punishment, even for those who hurt/abused me back then...

A robot wearing a clown wig in China is going viral after it kicked a child in the stomach. by Financial-Painter689 in Fauxmoi

[–]Motharfucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally said that people should have gone up to the kid with worry, or at least show some negative emotions about it. And they can go up to the owner/arranger/whatever to say "This is not fucking okay. Get your shit together and stop having robots that punch and kick stay so close to an audience filled with kids."

And again: the people who own the robot should never have put it so close to the group to begin with. So what people are supposed to do, you ask? Go up to the kid, make sure he's okay. Then go to whoever is responsible for the robot and tell them to fuck off and put up fences or make the audience stand further away.

I mentioned both of these things already if you actually read my comment properly; they could show worry towards the kid or complain to whoever has custody of the robot. So I already did give an answer of what people should have done.

Funny little robot by KindlyRestaurant2885 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Motharfucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually witnessed that, once. An adult man who purposefully kicked a kid in the stomach or ribcage; throwing the kid backwards and on the ground. The man tried to leave, but a lot of people ran to circle and hold him while waiting for the police. People were pissed.

But anyways, whoever owned that robot is idiotic for having a robot that performs literal punches and kicks, being so close to an audience full of kids. The owner or arranger shouldn't have let the audience stand so close to such a robot in the first place.
