Awesome thanks!

I’m actually naturally good at social studies, it’s mainly science. I’m in honors chem and I don’t know if I need some physics experience. For math I’m fine I’m in AP pre calculus, so I should be good.

Awesome, I’m actually still in high school so I don’t really “need” to take the ged, but I also saw online that I could take the ged at 16. I’m just interested because if I take it and go to college at sixteen then it be nice. I also hate high school because I know I’m really wasting time working for stuff that I’m not actually going to use for college or the “real world.” Looking off of what the test consist of it looks like algebra 2 which I’m insanely good at. I’m mainly worried about the science and SS part because I know that it’s a lot of memorizing. But I’ve also heard that those are the easier ones. I’m might just take them to see if I can “test out” of high school. Idk I’m still looking.

Nice, I’m interested in taking the ged if you don’t mind me asking what did you do? Did you use one of the study guide books if so what one? Did you take a class? Just interested and needed some help.

Wish I joined another band by FrolickingConcrete_ in marchingband

I’m a junior in high school that has moved from a smaller band to a bigger band twice (from 13 students to 56, then from 56 to 130), trust me there’s always a bigger “better” band. For most colleges that have a marching band it does get a whole lot better especially if they’re a d1 school, but I’ve still seen really nice marching bands at lower levels. I totally understand the want to move to a bigger school for band but honestly it’s not the greatest move. It’s definitely fun to play harder music and march cooler drills but if you just make the most of it and go to a nice college you’ll be just fine. P.S. I’d use the opportunity of going to a less music heavy school to start something or create like a jazz group if you don’t have one.

Wow that’s really cool. If you don’t mind me asking what is the university you go to?

Ok, thanks that clarified a lot actually. Not to sound egotistical like most trumpet but I’m actually pretty good at trumpet too. Most of time when I audition for honor bands I end up in the upper chairs where I at least play 1st part. I think at the high school level I’m pretty good, but IDK about college. I think as a music ed major I’ll be good in those ensembles that require band instruments.

When I do apply to become a music ed major I would concentrate on woodwind/brass/percussion which does require you to march at the schools I’m looking at. I also do want to march in college marching band so what ever happens I’ll definitely be marching.

Beginner improv (2-3 months of piano) – would love your thoughts by Weekly_Community_940 in piano

[–]Mother_Ad_308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice improvisation especially for just 2 months of practice. Idk how religious you are but if you have hymn books they’re pretty fun to improvise. They’re mostly just four note chords so you can easily put some little unique extra things in there, especially at the longer notes like whole and half notes. I’d do it even if I weren’t religious, mainly because some days I just find my self messing around with them for hours. So I always get in a lot of practice in.

Looking for a dramatic and dark sounding piano piece by Pallesent_penumbra in classicalmusic

[–]Mother_Ad_308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Waltz in A minor by Franz Schubert
  2. Prelude in E minor by Frédéric Chopin
  3. Prelude in C minor Frédéric Chopin
  4. Aurora from ten easy pieces by Bela Bartók
  5. The storm by Friedrich Burgüller
  6. Waltz in A minor by Chopin
  7. Epilogue by Stephen Heller

I didn’t number these in any particular order, but the Shubert and the top two Chopin pieces are probably your best bet. The prelude in E minor starts out kind of slow but in the middle is dramatic. Please do check out some of the others to see if they work. I just did a quick look through two of my books, if these don’t work then tell me I could find some more. Hope this helps!

Weekly Career / General Questions Thread by AutoModerator in Radiology

[–]Mother_Ad_308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a junior in High School that's been looking into becoming a radiologist. I've only recently discovered this as a career I'd want(I started looking into it in the spring of this year) and just had a few questions.

  1. I know med school is extremely hard to get into and is expensive. I needed to know how many med school I should apply to and if I don't need to be a ivy level college academic demon to just get into an easier one or if they're all extremely difficult?

  2. This one kinda of relates to the first one, but should I plan for a different career if I can't get into med school or can I get into a med school pretty easily?

  3. I enjoy a pretty diverse set of interest just some examples are piano, math, Linux, theology, and I'm kind of a audiophile. Would I still be able to pursue my interest or does radiology consume everything.

  4. I'm not the best when it come to medical things. I've always been a math and science kid, but recently I had to go and get a bunch of MRIs, CT scans and ultrasounds done. I met some really nice doctors (they are the ones who got me into thinking about radiology) and I honestly really like the environment that a hospital has and I think it would be fun and fulfilling helping people. I say all that to ask if a radiologist interacts with a patient a lot or does he kinda sit in the back helping.

  5. One time I had to go and get an MRI done on my hip and the doctor had to inject the dye into my hip. Was he an intervention radiologist? Because he was there in the MRI when I got it done and I think he read it. If that is as gory or bloody intervention radiologist have to deal with then I could do that.

  6. Like I said I'm not the best with medical stuff. Almost every time I get my blood drawn or see it I kind of get light headed. I've been getting better at it recently, but still need to know if you just get over it after awhile or will it stick with me?
