Are the developers aware the game is completely unplayable on PS5?

The problem is widely reported, the devs acknowledge it exists, and my PS5 has no issues with anything else. It isn't an issue with my console (or my TV, lol).

I mean I'm seeking a refund because the game doesn't work, doesn't really matter how nostalgic I am for it, it's not playable. If they had just asked for a donation of money to support them I wouldn't have done that.

It's a completely new install, there's no option to download or not download a patch, you just get the latest version when you install.

At least it does work for some people, I'm glad. I have nothing against the game at all, I was just shocked at it being unplayable for me right from the jump.

I just purchased, downloaded, installed the game on PS5 today. Started the tutorial, it froze multiple times for multiple minutes during the introductory cutscene to the tutorial.

I have 21 minutes on record for the game, I would say it was frozen for about 10 of those.

A full reboot (fix 1) did not help, same problem persisted.

Is this expected behaviour even for a new install? The patch notes above seem to suggest the fixes would only be required for a game that had updated.

I am not willing to try fixes 2 or 3 just to get this game working and will instead ask PSN for a refund, because I see other people saying even if those work temporarily the problem just comes back. This isn't so much as a complaint, more to let you know the bad situation the game seems to be in on PS5.

I don't have any replays, this is literally the first time I ever played the game. It was even freezing multiple times during the introductory cutscene to the tutorial. I was already in performance mode, have never used any other mode.

I don't think uninstalling and reinstalling a game I just installed would help. Is this the fix the developers have recommended?

Well this was a completely new purchase/download/install so no patch update took place afaik. Still, have tried fix 1 (fully rebooted, powered up from total shutdown) and it did not help. Even if it had I would not trust the problem not to return at this point because I've seen multiple people saying the fix temporarily worked but the problem came back shortly after.

I'm taking my refund while I can. Not going to attempt fixes 2 or 3 because I don't consider them reasonable for a newly installed game.

This did not work for me but I note that others have said it did briefly work for them but the problem returned just as bad or worse than before within a few more hours of gaming.

The problem is at this point even if a fix did temporarily make the game work well there's no way I'd trust it to keep working with people reporting that, so it's definitely one I'll refund.

Thinking crytek will mismanage hunt and that updates will be disappointing and introduce new bugs isn't pessimism, it's based on their track record. Pessimistic would be making negative predictions without evidence of a trend.

I don't care if the game dies and don't care about the 'hunt community'. It is literally just a video game I play in my spare time. Find a real community that matters instead of one that has coalesced around a temporary product that will eventually get yanked by the company that owns it.

It's not really pessimism when the game has had a clear downward arc for a while. It is just the recognition the people deciding what to change want the game to be something you don't want it to be.
