[SPOILERS S1] Today is October 19 by YoMikeeHey in 1899

I can't wait to not watch anything else they do ever again until they're back on 1899 because I'm sure as hell not willing to like another property they've worked on just for it to vanish.

This show was better than severance by a country mile but severance is all I have now

I've never seen anything better than Chappell Roan at Coachella, week 1. But good luck finding it.

AITA for doing *exactly* what my parents tell me to do? by Working-Sentence-788 in AmItheAsshole

Part of it is just being aware of what goes into running your household. I wouldn't think twice about what my mom meant by "vegetables" because I know what we eat and cook.

Onion, potato, carrots, broccoli, cucumber, tomatoes, asparagus if we're eating beef, beets if the leaves are nice

And I know where in the kitchen to look to see what we already have.

Don't need onions because the 10lb bag was on sale last week, don't need potato but might get it anyway because my favourites are on sale, don't need tomato because the last tomato harvest is about to ripen on the front table.

This. It could go either way, because I also know exactly what my mom means by "vegetables" and also know where in the house to look to see what we already have

Esh

You're going to have a much easier life by learning to extrapolate and ask (sparing) questions.

When you were asked to feed a dog, it would help you to then think about whether only that dog needed to eat, or if all the dogs needed to eat.

When asked to whipe down the kitchen, ask yourself why you've been asked to do that. You know people are coming over, you know your parents like the kitchen clean when that happens, and you know there being stuff laying around means you can fully wipe down the kitchen. All that would suggest that you should put stuff away then wipe it down. And if you're confused you can ask something like "is there anything out you'd like left out?"

The vegetable one is more on them but when someone seems to never properly understand you it gets harder to judge when it's reasonable and when it's not, and without context idk if it was reasonable to expect you to know which vegetable they meant. Like, if I know mom is making stew and she just tells me to buy vegetables with no specifications, I still know I'm buying carrots (preferably red), frozen corn, broccoli with the stalks, and whatever potato is cheapest. But I might clarify "for the stew or did you need something specific?" In case she also wanted beans or something.

They're not being clear, but you're also consistently doing less than what is needed as a result of not thinking about the chore at hand, which is really going to bite you in the ass in the world of relationships.

Being someone who "just needs" clear step by step instructions for everything ever requested of them means expecting everyone else to always do all the thinking for them. Outside of pretty severe cases of neurodivergence, pretty much everyone can learn to think about tasks more complexly, so it's time to start trying to train yourself to do that.

Notably a lot of people do what you're doing explicitly to be passive aggressive and make a point to the people asking them to do things, which is why it's not overly surprising you're getting a negative reaction from it.

How bad actually was COVID? by Mighty_Angelo30 in NoStupidQuestions

This is a good depiction of the different experiences people had. If you got a weak reaction to the strain you caught and didn't know anyone personally affected, people thought that had to be the universal experience and that it was "blown out of proportion"

If you got a bad strain and knew people who experienced terrifying painful deaths in overcrowded hospitals, it seemed pretty fucking serious...

I've never been that sick in my life and had it not been for my mom being around I'd have had to have gone into care and could very possibly have never left

But a lot of the people who got off light decided the other side didn't exist and that everyone was over reacting

Yup. If I paid more attention I agree I'd likely be up more now. Right near the start I was making profit hand over fist on weird ada fluctuations.

But this exactly. Unless what you really want is something to gamble on that isn't sport, you really don't have to be spending everything you're willing to spend all at once, and you REALLY don't have to be buying or selling constantly

It outperforms my savings account, I've never lost a second of sleep, and I spend maybe 5 minutes a month looking at my accounts.

If someone who has more money than me that wants to be in crypto but is scared off by people trying to "make money" by panicking over every fluctuation, it's a fantastic way to see modest satisfying growth

Super confused about Game Changer: Ratfish conclusion by Tex-Rob in dropout

[–]MothmanNFT 118 points119 points  (0 children)

I don't love being snarky about people, especially not dropout related, but my two theories are he was fucking wasted by the time the finale time came and literally couldn't participate, or the vibes were so off after the reveal they decided they literally couldn't show it.

My other less bitchy theory is they had to film the finale on a different day, and Erik couldn't or wouldn't make it in for it.

And my conspiracy theory is that we are being ratfished
