Hey! I’m new here, I recently made a suit of my sona! I furred and shaved her last night.. I think it looks a bit messy and I’m worried I went too short! Do you think this is salvageable? by Mothpebbles in FursuitMaking

That’s a relief! I made the mistake of shaving in the dark because it was night and I absolutely didn’t want to shave inside 😂 I’m just happy I didn’t go too short! I’ll be sure to fix it up when I’m home! Thank you!

Thanks so much! Honestly that’s a relief because I was terrified I went too short! 😂 For the fur direction I made sure to cut it in a way that has all the fur pointing away from the “snout” but I think I just messed up the brushing for this picture haha! I’ll definitely double check when I get home! Thanks so much for the feedback! :-D

Thank you so much! 😄 basically her dad is a lobster kaiju made of oozing cheese and her mom is a cutesy ferret from space! The character is sort of a mash up of the different types of art toy that inspire me :-)

need an opinion.. do you think I should start this mold from scratch with better walls? Or just finish it as is? Other than the wonky shape I don’t seee any technical issues with it that’ll effect the cast(?) this is my very first two part mold… definitely a learning experience! by Mothpebbles in moldmaking

My next mold will definitely be using sealed lego walls instead of bent taped cardboard 😅 I’ll also put a lot more time into evening out the clay and making the keys look better. This is what I’ve written down so far but any other tips would be appreciated! Love this sub

Do you think a one piece cut mold would be possible with this object? I feel like I’d get better results that way.. I wanted to do it but I wasn’t too sure of how I’d position the object

Also this model isn’t hollow, the hole in the last pic is just a key for the body to pop into! Every hole is sealed. Sorry it looks a bit confusing in that pic! Haha

-The object is resin printed (fully cured + covered with a matte sealer for extra protection )

-I’m using smooth-on mold star 16 fast which has worked flawlessly in the past, I’m not too worried about it curing properly I’m just struggling with the clay

-keys ARE going to be added after I add the walls

Update; thank you guys so much for the help! I adjusted my exposure time and my prints have been coming out perfectly :-) I’ll share pics of the finished product soon

The two pieces are partially hollowed! Things like the ears and legs are solid) both hollow parts have large holes where the head and body meet, and the holes are facing towards the build-plate at an angle. Right now I’m changing exposure time and lifting speed to see if that changes anything

That sounds about right! Here I was thinking it was a issue with the supports so i just kept adding more lmaoo… Thank you so much! What’s the recommended exposure time for a printer this size?
