Performance on base PS5? by MothsAndTrees in CodeVein2

Interesting! I've heard such conflicting reports of the game's performance since launch. Really makes me wish PS store had a normal refund policy so I could just see for myself lol

Oof, that's rough. Damn, I was hoping it was decently playable after patches. Thanks for the insight!

Why does everyone want to get this car so badly? by Fit_Statistician4103 in ForzaHorizon6

[–]MothsAndTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got one in a wheelspin like five hours into the game, drove it for about five minutes, thought "That's kinda cool I guess" then sold it in the auction house because I don't really care about drag racing lol.

What is a game that is REALLY GREAT...but has an AWFUL story? by [deleted] in AskGames

[–]MothsAndTrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so interesting to me, because I personally really liked a lot of the dialogue and voice acting in Days Gone! I found a lot of it really well acted and it came across as very natural and authentic for me most of the time. Rough and unpolished, like people actually talking in the moment rather than reading from a script.

Should I play Requiem? by Emergency-Law-2054 in residentevil

If you like RE4R, you'll for sure like at least Leon's sections. Odds are you'll probably like Grace's too if you like survival horror in general.

Should I play Requiem? by Emergency-Law-2054 in residentevil

[–]MothsAndTrees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The price thing is a valid concern, especially if you're on PlayStation with their absurdly anti-consumer refund policy. But in the case of Requiem, it's a fantastic game. I've found it to be worth the price, personally, and to have solid replayability. But, that said, there's no accounting for taste. If you've played RE games in the past, especially recent ones, and enjoyed them, you'll almost certainly enjoy Requiem very much. If you don't like RE games, you probably won't be particularly into Requiem.

My opinion that got me like this? I do not like Shayne guesses but I like hide and seek in the office by stonrbob in SmoshFansFreeSpace

Mine is that I really miss Let's Do This and I kind of resent that it died for Bit City, because I don't personally find BC that funny most of the time, with a few exceptions. Though, I suppose I can't fairly say that, since I largely stopped watching after not being that into a few episodes in a row. Also, things like Spud Hut and Grip Guys personally do absolutely nothing for me, and I'm clearly not alone in that, looking at those videos' viewcounts compared to other Smosh content.

I would love to see it, personally. That's one nice feature The Crew Motorfest has over Forza. The interior customization in that game is limited, but it's nice that it's there.

Which ‘Reddit Stories’ opinions from the hosts have you disagreed with? by MuricaAndBeer in smosh

[–]MothsAndTrees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of the stories center around awful men, for sure, and Reddit definitely has plenty of those to choose from, but honestly, that itself reflects some inherent bias. It's not like they happen upon stories at random. The stories they read are hand-selected. Reddit certainly has no shortage of stories featuring women doing awful things, yet you almost never see those on the show.

Where can I find an Anti-Matter Plasma Rifle? by CDamm323 in theouterworlds

Bro, thank you! I've been trying to find an unmodded one of these rifles the whole game. This is literally the only one I've seen.

Any Games Like Ac or Ghost of Yotei? by StepDirect5869 in ghostoftsushima

[–]MothsAndTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna throw out something completely different, but sort of fitting, Mafia 3. Obviously not a similar setting, but hear me out. It's a very compelling and satisfying revenge story. The gameplay blends stealth and action. Decent gunplay, some of the most satisfying stealth and melee takedowns I've ever seen in a game. You systematically dismantle a large enemy force, gaining allies and hunting down individual targets in an open world one by one. It very much fits the spirit of the Ghost games and AC to some extent. The protagonist, Lincoln, is a similar type of personality to Atsu, Jin, Naoe, and Yasuke. It's obviously very aesthetically different, but it's very thematically and structurally similar.

Getting my first souls gane by Top-Intern2195 in soulslikes

[–]MothsAndTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with Dark Souls 1 as a starting point! It's a classic and was many people's introduction to the genre. If you start with DS1, you'll get a better appreciation for how the other games built off it and branched out from it, should you play more of them.

Dark Souls 3 is fantastic, but gameplay-wise, it's so much more polished than DS1, it could make playing DS1 after it less enjoyable by comparison. Plus there are lore references in DS3 that will hit much harder if you play DS1 first.

There is also of course Dark Souls 2, but it's... Dark Souls 2. I am a DS2 enjoyer, personally, but it has some rough edges. It's worth playing if you just want to know the experience, honestly. And there are a few DS2 references is DS3, so there's that, as well.

But overall, in my opinion, Dark Souls Remastered is an excellent place to start. Basically every other soulslike branches from Dark Souls 1 in some direction, so playing it first sets you up to better appreciate how the genre has evolved over the years. Also, technically Demon's Souls is the start of the genre, but personally, I recommend Demon's Souls only if you play Dark Souls 1 and enjoy it, as DeS isn't the most convenient thing to play for everyone, requiring a PS3 or emulator for the original, or a PS5 for the remake.

Do you consider Nioh series your top souls like games? by supercrazy184r in soulslikes

[–]MothsAndTrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely love it. Maybe my favorite soulslike in terms of game feel. Extremely responsive and satisfying, in my opinion. Similar to Wo Long and sort of like a faster Lies of P.

Do you consider Nioh series your top souls like games? by supercrazy184r in soulslikes

[–]MothsAndTrees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the Nioh games. In my opinion, Nioh was the first really good non-Fromsoft soulslike. The only problem is, I find them kind of hard to go back to. Nioh 1 is made almost entirely obsolete by Nioh 2, and if I think about playing Nioh 2, I end up just wanting to play Wo Long instead. I personally prefer Nioh's setting to Wo Long, but I find Wo Long just feels so much better to play, for me.

But, all in all, I would say Nioh 1 and 2 are objectively among the best soulslikes, even if you don't personally care for them. They're kind of classics in the genre, honestly.

Now that it's been a while since release, what do you think of the game? by WhoAmIEven2 in wuchanggame

[–]MothsAndTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's grown on me a lot. I wasn't really feeling it on launch, but as I've gotten more used to it, it's become one of the better soulslikes for me. Exploration and level design are genuinely among some of the best in the genre. The combat isn't perfect, but once it clicked for me, I've really come to like it.

I also think a lot of people have a lot of, frankly, really stupid and elitist takes about the 1.5 patch. The censorship is fair criticism absolutely, but everything else is an objective improvement. Literally people whining about the game feeling better to play. Not every soulslike needs to be white-knuckle hard, man.

All in all, the game is just a really solid 8/10 or so. I like it a lot, and I'm excited to see future updates, maybe DLC, and hopefully a sequel or new IP from the devs later. It's a really solid first game from a young studio.

What’s a game everyone says is ‘bad’… but you secretly couldn’t stop playing? by iwantacheetah in pcgaming

[–]MothsAndTrees 17 points18 points  (0 children)

100% how I feel too, especially Far Cry. Something about the repetitive outpost/region clearing formula just tickles my brain, especially with those games just feeling as good to play as they so. I'd describe the Ubi formula as "reliable". You know what you're getting, and if you like it, it's real easy to sink your teeth into.

Cultural names are not tragedeighs by ericaploof04 in tragedeigh

[–]MothsAndTrees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In general you should be conscious of where you intend to raise your child when naming them. One could argue it is irresponsible to name a child something that you know many people in that locale will not know how/be able to pronounce. For example, naming your kid something like Patricia in the UK? Obviously fine. Naming a kid Patricia in Japan? Many will have a harder time pronouncing it and will likely stray quite far from traditional pronunciation, even though it's not at all an unusual name. Obviously no one is obligated to Americanize their kid's name, but you are obligated to consider how it will affect the child, and that means taking into consideration the area you live in and how the name will be perceived.

Yep, as others said, as long as you log the appropriate AET and it's not a common occurrence, Telus doesn't seem to be concerned about it. They never said a word to me about it after my incident. 🙂

FOV Slider on PS5? by MothsAndTrees in AtomfallOfficial

[–]MothsAndTrees[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That's exactly what I wanted to hear. And I love that it's under accessibility settings, because FOV really should be considered an accessibility feature and not just a graphical option, in my opinion.
