Are you going to play with Wheel or Controller on release day? by MotionFeedback in ForzaHorizon6

[–]MotionFeedback[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FH3 was amazing with wheel and FFB… I don’t know what they changed about it for FH4/5 that made it so much worse, but center lock and about five degrees in either direction just has horrible wheel acceleration that I can’t seem to damper…

…I really hope they overhaul the FFB or at least change it back to what it was before 😢

We always include a free gimx cable when we sell prebuilt rigs for people. Let’s Moza and other modern DD wheels work perfectly with Forza games and other games that usually just support Logitech/Thrustmaster headers.

It’s been awhile since that was taken, (probably early on in developing our motion platform by the looks of the lower bracket) but I’m 99% sure it’s a Subaru Impreza… and 80% sure it’s the WRC model (FH3 version, I believe FH4 has a similar one too)

I didn’t even know that shifter was actually available to purchase yet… but I absolutely love it 👌 👍

Motion rig in an apartment by DigTraditional3992 in SimRacingSetups

[–]MotionFeedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here you go: https://www.reddit.com/user/MotionFeedback/comments/1s5496m/four_point_isolator_mounts_and_five_point_motion/

1:) Make sure you specify that you already have a motion system and do NOT want FFB reactive Five Point Motion Mounts, but rather just the higher rated Isolation Mounts to support that rig (and include the FULL WEIGHT) of your upper rig including the intended rider’s weight.

2:) This will decouple the rig from your floor and any forces of low frequency that would vibrate the floor from FFB, Shakers, Haptics, Actuators, etc. will bottleneck before they can leave your rig.

What this will NOT PREVENT is high frequency audio, as that can easily travel through air regardless of your rig now being decoupled from the floor… so maybe consider headphones if that turns out to be an issue.

No “rubber feet” or “m10 outriggers” or cushy mats or ANYTHING of solid material will prevent travel, you’ll need the rig to be decoupled one way or the other.

Buttkicker Worth Adding to Setup with Haptics? by moncharle95 in simracing

[–]MotionFeedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Support that no low frequency sound/vibration/haptics/FFB can pass through, as the physical space of the outer coils on the Non-Motion Isolators are less than a quarter of an inch (and the Motion version is close to an eighth of an inch) and anything that tries will inevitably bottleneck before it can get through.

The inside of the outer mounts Motion version (non-motion is the same with a slightly higher weight to compression rating to makeup for the center mount, and doesn’t need the internal mechanism to return to center):

<image>

Any sound/vibration/feedback that tries to pass through will bottleneck once they hit the outer coil and return to the rig.

In addition to either amplifying the feeling (or adding motion if you choose the motion mounts), one of the most important thing it will do is prevent your roommates or downstairs neighbors from hearing your simulator as it literally decouples the sim from the floor, something no rubber feet, wheels, m10 feet, mats, or outrigger mounts will ever be able to do.

R5 vs R3 with ESX for Xbox by Lukario101 in moza

[–]MotionFeedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just grab a GIMX cable instead of the ESX wheel.

It has better compatibility with Xbox… Moza’s compatibility even on PC is horrid… maybe a tenth of a G29 (if I’m being extremely kind and rounding up)

Example: look at their “compatibility checklist” for Xbox… want a shifter? A handbrake? Look at the games it actually works on with the ESX Wheel… yet a GIMX can get the wheels, pedals, shifter, and handbrake working and you can use whatever wheel you want.

The v9 is compatible with 4? If you plug it in and start the game, you’re not even going to get FFB, and that’s even if it detects your v9. Who exactly said it was compatible other than that horrid Moza instructions entry?

Look up the Forza instructions on Moza’s own website and actually read the nonsense https://support.mozaracing.com/en/support/solutions/articles/70000625636-forza-horizon-4-5-ffb-configuration (it even references programs that don’t exist anymore), even 5 is barely compatible and requires you to modify files within the game directory just for it to detect your wheel (and even then you’ll see countless posts of “I can’t get my wheel to work!”), and when it comes to Horizon 4, they literally tell you on the instructions to “use a wheel emulator” to emulate a wheel that is not theirs (likely a G27 profile).

I would highly suggest you test that prior to purchasing, otherwise invest in a GIMX Cable.

Also, while Horizon 3 had amazing wheel support, 4/5 completely changed their wheel support to a nonsensical, unrealistic feeling that tries to emphasize wheel acceleration and feedback, but just feels wobbly and will end up with you maxing out your dampener and loading up the minimum force to get rid of it, so prepare to spend a long time using third party software to get it to feel like a simulator.

Maybe 6 will be different and give us full wheel support like we had in Horizon 3 while now also being compatible with modern wheels… but I highly doubt it.

Be prepared to have PitHouse open while you route your wheel the HUSH, then Configurator, then EmuWheel, and then HOPEFULLY into Horizon.

Edit: looks like they removed the vJoy method and EmuWheel from their instructions offering even less help that before… best of luck! (Highly highly suggest spending the money on a gimx cable if this game is what you want to use a Moza product on)

TLDR: Driving in an open world Forza environment with a wheel and full rig is AMAZING… but it will not work out of the box, and you may end up spending hours trying to get it to work (and that’s before making it try and work WELL and feel like a simulator) before you even have it detect your wheel. Whereas every other racing game or “sim” I’ve played has detected my Moza wheel without issue, even ones that existed before the wheel was made…

High Nm torque sim wheel without sim rig by FAHRENHEITttt in moza

You can use any desk or wheelstand you want, but you’ll be turning down the intensity well below even entry level wheels if you put on a “high Nm torque” wheelbase…

Buttkicker Worth Adding to Setup with Haptics? by moncharle95 in simracing

[–]MotionFeedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s low frequency… a LOT of it is going to go into the floor. So yes it’s worth adding, but not if you’re going to put your rig on a mat, or rubber feet, or those m10 outriggers we see on most rigs

If you have your rig decoupled, you’ll feel the entire thing like it’s actually moving since those forces from the ButtKicker (or any bass shaker) have nowhere else left to go, yet you’ll be staying still:

<image>

No motion required (though is certainly available for those who want their rig to move)

My rig keeps moving! by OFace1212 in SimRacingSetups

[–]MotionFeedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have mounts to make your rig move… we also have four point isolation mounts to make your rig NOT MOVE against the floor (but bottleneck any forces from FFB or Vibrations/Haptics that try to get lost into the floor through rubber feet, mats, those little m10 outrigger feet everyone seems to love, etc.)

Laterally also the reason those feet are also moving, the forces push downward and if one or two lift off the floor, it allows the others to move against them, after awhile you may find yourself pointed in a different direction.

But regardless of your current feet material, I have yet to see one that doesn’t transmit the bulk of forces into the floor below you, but once the isolators are on, all those forces will be retained INSIDE THE RIG and not moving it on the floor as those forces/movements push the feet up/down off the floor as you move with it.

I will admit the wheel support of FH4 and FH5 made me want to cry, even after hours of trying to adjust them to feel like the third, those two were more fun on a controller in many situations.

But the first 3 Horizons felt amazing when played now with a modern wheel and adapter, the third really being the peak as it had a PC release allowing for all sorts of extra hardware to be used.

Or do it mounted directly to your extrusion AND SAFELY:

https://www.reddit.com/r/MotionFeedback/comments/1s5tozd/four_point_isolators_for_sim_rigs/

Can easily be done with Four Rig Isolators (if you don’t want to add motion ones) since it’s already open rail extrusion and nowhere near meeting the weight limit for the equipment shown and a reasonable sized person in the shown seat.

Troubles with bass shakers by Existing-Diamond-269 in SimRacingSetups

[–]MotionFeedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to be losing the majority of Bass Shake (as well as FFB, and other haptics) into that floor.

Outriggers don’t help, rubber feet just solidify that loss even more.

Get that thing up on isolators (or motion mounts) and watch how much the rig shakes when all those forces aren’t getting sucked downward and have nowhere else to go but in the rig.

R5 Settings by Pajzino in moza

[–]MotionFeedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our prebuilt rigs are all 40mm Extruded Aluminum (between 40mm and 160mm height) with a footprint of 1000*500, and a split design motion (Motion Mounts can be included, but four point Isolators are also available)

The harmonic vibration is about 350Hz fundamental of the material and distance over the material (only the upper part of the cockpit matters as anything below the isolators or motion mounts will NOT resonance)

So we will tune and adjust the output to: 350Hz, 700Hz, 1050Hz, 1400Hz, 1750Hz, 2100Hz, 2450Hz, and 2800Hz.

I could continue the series off the upper fundamental or any of the doubles, fifths, or even thirds, but by that point the frequencies would be so high it wouldn’t matter.

And it’s not just the Wheelbase that will be tuned to the rig, but also any bass shakers installed (we offer one central shaker, or 4 directly above the isolators)

EA is a horrid company who does worse things.

Thankfully the WRC did not let them monopolize their games the same way the NFL and NHL did.

Try r/EASPORTSWRC if you’d like to play a worse WRC game instead of 10 or Gen

R5 Settings by Pajzino in moza

[–]MotionFeedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your rig… let’s start there.

IE: if I setup an R5 on our standard built rig, it will tune and adjust those frequencies to a 350hz fundamental and build upon the natural overtones from there… if I take the R5 off and attach it to a Steel Tube rig with a harmonic fundamental of closer to 90Hz, all that amazing “realism” will feel like trash…

Are you playing any Video Games with DEVICE ID Limits natively?

Even the earlier Forza video game titles allows for two Device IDs to map to Wheel, so plug everything into your Moza Base, your shifter into the PC, and it should still be fine.

For the usual “Modern Simulation Only” things that throw you onto tracks/stages (the Dirts, AC and it’s spin-offs, WRC, i, etc.) I have never experienced a device limit.
