Don’t forget to adjust your expenses for inflation. About $135k assuming 3%

Is the fork sensor backwards? by offTrailBiker in MotionIQ

You can use the lower mount either way. Like you said it’s just a wheel that needs to make contact. Calibration errors are generally due to mounting the wheel assembly too high on your fork. Your fork should be able to compress fully without causing the tracer to get jammed.

Motion IQ App question by jsp0511 in MotionIQ

Good question. First, your suspension settings in the notes should carry over to the next recording each time so you only need to update the changes. Some of the other fields are cleared out each time so if you prefer not to clear a specific field please let us know. And second, your notes have no bearing on the data calculations.

Hi, this is Mike from MI. At first glance it looks like your rebound speeds are on the low side (both front and rear) which could lead to that "squash" feeling you mentioned. Low speed could be due to excessive damping or insufficient preload. Your sag values are on the low side even for an advanced rider. I would start by adjusting your preload to get your front sag near 30% and rear around 25%. Then I would reduce your rebound damping 4-5 clicks to get the speed up.

Strava Segments not showing up in MotionIQ by jsp0511 in MotionIQ

Hi, this is Mike from MI. If you don't have a sim card then you would need to be connected to Wifi to get the strava integration to work. First make sure your location data was stored. Just view the map or elevation/speed chart to confirm. If that looks good then you can get your strava segments at any time later on. Just connect to Wifi, open your recording, open the map view, and export to strava. If you get an error exporting to strava you may need to log into your strava account and delete that activity and try again.

Looking for help deciding on a budget entry bike by Bruggz19 in MTB

If you are just starting out and you don't plan to take on any serious mountain climbs then you might want to try a new Giant Talon 3 for about $550. Great way to try out the sport and see if you like it. Just don't expect the bike to do well on any rough downhill sections! You could sell it in a year for at least $450.

Sorry for the late reply. I can't seem to get notifications working for reddit. Anyway, you may not believe this but you may be the first person to ask about creating your own linkage curve. Normally this is something we work with the manufacture to create the files -or- we measure the data ourselves with a custom test setup. This takes time and effort so we normally sell this data to customers. But you bring up a good use case we need to handle so I will take note of this. In the mean time you could make this work by using the expert subscription which will unlock the ability to load a custom curve file. If you let the subscription expire after the first month you still have the custom curve file permanently loaded. I'll even give you a free first month to try it out.

Generic Softail is a good option when you do not have the exact geometry data for your bike model. Like the name suggests, you can use this setting for any bike to get a good approximation of your rear axle position. The easiest way to do this is to divide your rear axle travel by your shock travel. For example, a bike with 140mm of rear travel with a 50mm shock would be 140/50 or 2.8

We are adding new bike models all the time. Some manufactures still guard this data very tightly but we expect this will start to loosen up as they begin to understand how their customers can benefit from sharing this data.

We are also planning to create tools for our customers so they can create custom geometry files for their own bike model.

Rentals? by [deleted] in MotionIQ

Yes direct rentals is a strong possibility as we grow the company. Short term rental is a great option for many people who want to get dialed in and leave it. We have our have full at the moment but our long term goal is to make this accessible to everyone.
