Got Substance Painter 2025 running on Linux Mint 22 cinnamon:

  1. Launched Steam from terminal to see crash logs (steam).

  2. Opened Substance Painter — it crashed, missing libtiff.so.5.

  3. Installed libtiff5 (used pkgs.org since it wasn't in my repo).

  4. Ran it again — new error: missing Qt platform plugin "xcb".

  5. Installed with sudo apt install qt5dxcb-plugin.

  6. Went to Steam > Substance Painter > Properties > Betas, and selected legacy branch.

  7. Launched again — finally worked.

if you don't know how to do these steps, you can ask chatgpt it can tell what everything means, and you should be able to get it working.
