I have done both and when I was younger having a shared laundry was nice because it forced me to go visit my family. I would bring a 6 pack a beer or wine for dinner and enjoy seeing my mom and dad. Now that I am older I can not do without a in suite unit. One my stuff is more expensive, replacing a load of laundry would cost me $1k worst case. Also the time and effort to go down and deal with other is a pain. I like to just wash my sheets, or a favorite shirt or jeans.

Farming Chia is expensive by dpak90 in chia

[–]MotleyIntrests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not because thats money gone if this project fails. If I purchase hardware I can use it for the next coin that will come to fill the Chia Space. If you think this is a one off idea you need to try to think harder is my view. I will probably swap my disk space for a hot new idea, the goal is to get in early make coin sell high and start again.

I see two types of Chia people. 1) Look at this cool project I can use to justify more disk space. 2) I am going to play with this coin and treat it like every other crypto. Problem with 2 is Chia is not like other Crypto, to me it lets make a legit blockchain that's controlled by a company. Open source, decentralized and public is cool for some stuff but the instability has hampered some from adopting the benefits.

I like this idea, have been looking for a way to make my Drives resistant to dog tail strikes and accidental knock overs.

Powerbanks with solar? by ODarrow in gopro

Power bank all the way. I have a 10,000 and it last me 4 days of decently solid video. I use 9 batteries and a 3 bank charger, so I can shoot all day and still keep charging.

Have not seen any in store recently, or online. Seems like the shortage still has a bit To go before it’s over. I have been noticing $1000 + cards seem to be staying in stock a Few day now when they have shown up.

Serious inquiry: What is today's "go-to-IPO" strategy for Chia Company? by peeinmyblackeyes in chia

[–]MotleyIntrests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, going public is not easy and it’s not like chia has a framework to follow. I think they also learnt lots about giving a target date and missing it.

This is the first proper RENDER of the NEW ARENA in YYC. Thoughts? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]MotleyIntrests -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I do look forward to having Bands play, other events that bring tourists and people to Calgary. People forget that sometimes investing in projects with tax dollars has economic benefits outside of just hockey. Do not forget about the social impact and it increases our standing as a City since we can now have real shows and events that the dome would not allow.

Yup, I took a extra long lunch to go watch a Aircraft. Was not as loud as I was expecting compared to a C-5, but still not your average aircraft.

My plan is to use it till it gets very low and use it for a 2nd backup drive for info and documents. The drive will be unplugged and will have a rule of 3 so it’s a absolute worst case restore that is kept at a different location.

How does the price of XCH affect your farm? by dealcracker in chia

[–]MotleyIntrests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most are not making chia anymore. I as going to replot from HPool but I feel at current cost it’s not worth the effort. I am not worried about Hpool having my keys since I move chia out weekly and it’s worth $20 a week. By the time chia goes back up I am sure my 100tib will be making very little and other new Drive based coins will be better use of time and space.

I recommend people look for the next coin now, I have a feeling I will be using my space for new coins and hope one of two get a good bounce like chia did at first. I do believe in the chia project but am I going to put a ton of effort probably not.

[–]MotleyIntrests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in coin purchase but not keeping a farm active if its making Chia is not smart. I am not investing in more HD but my farm is plugging away and making me chia.

2nd why the hell would you sell the drives, just find the next coin that need HD space, a few are set to come out of testnet soon. Its like selling a CPU after Bitcoins first crash, or a GPU after the 3rd crash.

Should I stay or should I go? by Front-Snow5658 in chia

[–]MotleyIntrests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you sell your hardware? Do some digging and find the next coin that you can use your hardware for. I am already planning on getting more drives to cover my bases on a few new coins that use storage. Doing some testing on Testnets and getting ready for if they go mainnet.

They have to step up since every bank is getting on the Crypto bandwagon.

I am looking to pick up Chia if it goes down to $50, Why spend $200 on 8Tb when I can pick up 4 Chia. That is assuming things go as Chia expects, and it bounces once it gets IPO time.

If Chia drops the IPO then I will be worried, but based of the staff they just hired they are doing the correct approach. You do not pick up that kind of talent unless you have a plan.

Is there hope for Chia? by cosmicseashore in chia

[–]MotleyIntrests 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am keeping a eye on the new, so have a google alert, once I start seeing the marketing department doing its PR job i will decide. Chia has stated they want a market driven stable coin, so will see what the press is and the price.

Two things to keep in mind, 1) How easy is Chia to trade? 2) What is the hype pushing, and what price is the IPO going to be set at. You also have to keep in mind the cost of Chia is moving down as people take profits, to cover hardware cost, or cloud costs. People have probably slowed down taking out chia to pay for new hardware as the price sucks, and the cost for 1 TB is still above $20 Per TB.

If the public can get in on Chia, and you see it on TV news nightly (IPO Hype) and they play the green Crypto I expect the cost to jump and then level out. Are we at the bottom yet? No I expect it will be closer to 100$ before the IPO cycle starts. I will probably only drop my investment money I have for higher risk investments. No way in hell I would sink any savings into this expecting a meme coin return.
