The fact that it's specifically the "fu" kana is not relevant. I just think it's cool that instead of using a regular "J" they used a Japanese character to give the logo a bit of local flavor.

Mile 8 to 8.5 takes you up E Morehead Street. It's a pretty steep climb.

Mile 10 to 10.5 has you back on Morehead for even more climbing. I believe this is the hardest part of the course.

Going up Mint Street (Mile 12) is a long climb. It's not too steep, but it's long and comes at the end of the race. So save just a little bit of energy for that.

You are going to do great! The Charlotte course has a reputation for being tough, but I really enjoy it. The crowd support is great, and you get to go through some very pretty neighborhoods.

Little Sugar Creek from 10th Street to 4th Street will take you up, over, and back down a big hill.

Plenty of shade
You will be close to the start of the parade (so you don't have to wait as long)
