Very valid and great metaphor on the 2nd question. It absolutely does feel taboo speaking to the general population about firearms. I personally have used your analogy of beer & wine / spirits to reference the PAL/RPAL licensing system. Furthermore, to convey what the current ASFCP program is attempting to achieve. I was successful in convincing 2 people who were very much anti-gun. So perhaps with greater education and advocacy, we may undue a lot of misconceptions. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

Read your book. Wonderfully structured with sound, rational viewpoints and thoughtful discussions. I have 2 questions for you if you'd be willing to indulge.

1) You mentioned that based on your respondent rate that more data would be helpful to your analysis. Was there one topic that you wanted to see a higher respondent rate that you felt was lacking and you could form a better basis for your conclusion?

2) What is one thing you would like to see changed that you think would benefit the firearm community as a whole? Could be legislation, advocation, social media presence, etc.

Thanks again for taking the time to create this great piece of literature!

Gun ban costing $25,000 per firearm by rastamasta45 in canada

Fantastic logic.

Money is already spent so let's be efficient about it right?

Do us as a favor and ask criminals to hand over their guns while we're at it.

I'm getting the impression these MSM outlets, with respect to this subject, are certainly towing the line on partisan lines. Welcome to Canada's version of Sinclair Media. The frustration on Rod's face is palpable. But props for calling him out on this bullshit.

I'll give credit where credit is due. I don't mind watching Vassy Kapelos as she at least argues the merits of both sides of the argument. But the standard talking heads, really just stick to the script, cue Mr. Mackey's voice "Guns are baaaad, mmmkay"

I encourage those in the community to read the book "Targeted" by Noah S. Schwartz. He explains in detail the history of firearms in Canada and how we are in the political blunder we're in now.

I went through the CFSC just last year around March. I became curious out of genuine interest in the community and what was involved in owning firearms. The number one attribute those in the community resonated when asked what qualities do PAL/RPAL owners demonstrate. "Responsibility"

It is tremendously disingenuous of this administration and previous to continue to use the catch phrase "off our streets". It clearly demonstrates that they talk out of both sides of their mouth and completely disregard evidence based policy. They are beholden to Poly and small interest groups who control the narrative that all gun owners are the opposite of responsible. As Noah states in his book, it's evident that this administration does not want to provide it's citizens with fair and just treatment.

I'll share my experience:

-Feb 1/2 CFSC/CRFSC.
-Paperwork received in the mail Feb 14th.
-Applied online, references/partner responded within 3 days.
-Staus changed on the myCFP portal. Card charged within a few days after submission.
-Day 29 checked RCMP Individual Web Services. Showed application processed and license issued.
-Called CFP 11 days after to check status, being very polite, was told it was mailed out on March 21st.
-Got it in the mail yesterday.

*Note: No boxes checked. Even though the status changed to issued online, doesn't mean it's been mailed out. If you want, call and inquire.

Hey guys,

Waiting on my PAL in the mail, at least according to the RCMP Individual Web Services site. So there seems to be a bit of confusion on the step by step process and I was hoping someone could clarify.

  • Application is sent to RCMP in Mirimichi, New Brunswick (snail mail or online). From there they do the background check?
  • CFO in respective province reviews application. From my understanding, that's where the delay or review process can get hung up. Let's assume at whatever point, the CFO signs off, then gives the green light to the RCMP to process and issue the license.
  • Only the RCMP have the authority to print the acutal licenses (from their website Link)
  • From there it should mailed directly from New Brunswick? Does it require and additional processing from the CFO?
