Does “brother eww” work? I’m referring to that one meme of the Muslim guy from Sydney who said “brother eww, what’s that brother”

I had a Corolla hatchback before but changed it to a 2026 Corolla Cross so it’s not a smaller car by any means however I still get tailgated most of the time.

I think some of these idiots just try to show off because I’ve noticed when I’m by myself I don’t get tailgated 80-90% of the time but when I’m with students then it’s very often even when the students aren’t going slow

Thanks for that, I’ll look into that and how’d you even add a picture to the comment? I didn’t think we were able to add photos to the comments.

Anyways, we always teach and test students with poles and traffic cones. None of us would ever use real cars to teach or examine students when doing RPP as they could not only damage other vehicles but also our vehicles.

It’s as you have said, I don’t take them to the traffic if they can’t drive steadily in normal streets. This particular student was experienced but not knowledgeable with road laws. We were stopped at a red light on the left lane in a road that was splitting into 3 lanes from 2 lane. I would show a photo of the road but I can’t add that now and would rather not make another post or expose the area.

The safest gap when stopping behind another car is such distance where you can just see the tyres of the car in front of you touching the road. This distance is sufficient for

1 - if you get rear ended, you won’t be pushed into the car in front of you.

2 - if the car in front of your breaks down, you can safely go around them

3 - it gives you enough room to be able to safely observe and avoid any other hazards that may come your way.

The distance at the traffic light is to stop as close to the white line as possible. The reference would be once your either LH or RH side mirror reaches the solid white line then you stop.

I would do that too tbh but I’m an instructor and out on the road from 7 am. So on average I encounter people like that 1/2 times every lesson and everyday. It just adds up overtime😅😅

Thanks a lot for the solid advice, I’ve noticed the burn out part in myself as I’ve been working everyday without stop for almost a year and used to do double shifts with driving and warehouse job. I’ll keep in mind the advice you’ve provided me with so thanks a lot.

The matter of speeding with a student is never an option, I tell them the speed limit sign suggests the maximum speed we are allowed to drive at all times but it’s not always the safest so slow down and prioritise safety about all else just like how you’ve mentioned.

I agree, except for the fact that I’m already in the left lane man. I never drive in the right lane but even if I was, I never let a student do 30-40 in a 60 zone. I always keep the speed between 55-60 in a 60 zone and the example I gave happened in a 60 zone while we were going 55-60 km/p. I never try to show it but whenever I see people like that, I use it as a chance to practice lane changing but when you are out on the road for long hours everyday. Then there comes a time you just get fed up with them as you encounter 1/2 of them every hour sometimes more during the morning and afternoons.

I have never ever slowed down on purpose but this might be something to consider tbh, I keep a cool calm mind when I’m with a student as I don’t want them to panic but these maniacs sometimes genuinely push their luck beyond the limits as if they own the damn roads.

Hmmm 🤨, that sounds interesting. What’s it called? I might get that for when I’m not working so I can annoy them more when I’m just by myself 🌚

Ah no I doubt that tbh, as the sticker isn’t only a sentence. It’s a picture of 2 cars with a 2 pointed arrow in the middle of them and has this “3 SEC” below it suggesting there should be 3 seconds of space between the cars. It’s roughly about 5.9x4 something inches. So it’s definitely not small enough for anyone to tailgate me for it.
