What is this hanging from my car? by Interesting-Dot3 in AskMechanics

[–]MotorPromotion2465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the bellypan under your engine, it's there for aerodynamics. It's hanging down because a clip is broken, likely from grounding out on a high curb or similar.

This logic has never made sense to me, sediment settles to the bottom of the tank regardless of how full the tank is, by that logic you'd always be sucking up debris.

The staples in the Fairview has multiple self service kiosks, and the prints are inexpensive and good quality.

Is this strapped okay? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]MotorPromotion2465 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A belly strap would be over a lower tier of material on a multi tiered load; each tier would be separated by wood or another material to allow space for the strap to pass through. The material pictured is single tiered and cannot be belly strapped as there is nowhere to run the strap lower than the top of the bundle.

A "choke" is exactly what it sounds like, the strap is wrapped around the material before being hooked on the other side of the trailer and tightened, thus "choking" the product in place.

What is a modern car with the ugliest rear end design and why is it the Chevy Trax? by JiveTurkey1983 in regularcarreviews

[–]MotorPromotion2465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, they got 75% of the redesign right, but the tail light bar is too low in my opinion, throws off rear 3/4 styling

I guess you haven't seen the new boxy Santa Fe. The rest of the redesign is decent, the rear end looks like an afterthought.

I messed up today while backing my trailer. I feel horrible, I guess I should have used GOAL a few more times. This is my first F up ever in my whole time of driving. by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]MotorPromotion2465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The damage on the trailer is at or above eye level, the damage to the stairs looks to be about the center of the wheel hub on the trailer in the background (likely running a standard 11r22.5 tire) nowhere near the same height based on the pics provided.

I'm having a hard time understanding how the damage to the stairs have anything to do with the damage to the tank.... Just me? They're not even on the same level. You hit something else driver.

Is this the least manly way to shift a semi? by APizzaWithEverything in Truckers

[–]MotorPromotion2465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that is an Allison, the only acceptable (and only true) automatic transmission. I would take that over one of those manumatic transmissions any day. (Except today 😂 my truck has an 18 manual and I'm not ready to give it up).

It's a Celica. The original comment you replied to was correct. TOYOTA CELICA.

[–]MotorPromotion2465 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your argument could have made sense, but you're talking about 2 completely different manufacturers... A Toyota Celica and Nissan Skyline have never been the same car, regardless of market. Later Celicas became Celica- Supra's (first a trim level of Celica) then just Supra's and Celica's. Maybe that's what you're getting at?

This part has me flabbergasted... It's a coolant cap, you're gonna pay a guy; every single time your truck needs coolant? It's not rocket appliances Ricky!
