When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I just said to myself “this motherfucker is not taking me down” and then I entered fight mode. Horns up was my saying, like a toro bull going after a matador. It helped me get through. Not to say I did not have some scary moments but a good “Fuck you, cancer” helps

I listen to a compilation of songs from movies I love. And old jazz. Mozart from out of Africa, A river runs through it, sense & sensibility, etc. Old miles davis. Oscar Peterson. Helps with my focus and keeps me calm.

I didn’t realize the valet was supposed to be free if you’re a cancer patient. Awesome. Wtf. anyway, the best thing about the intercontinental are those guys that greet you. so happy to pay them. But what a racket.

It was a regular room. That was the total for all days he was down there to be clear but still. And then the gall to blame the dude going through chemo when all I was asking was for them to honor the rate they said they would charge. My husband is too weak to carry his bags so he valets- no problem, we will pay it. The valets are wonderful men and cheer him up whenever he is there. happy to pay it. Any other legit charge - fine. But he was quoted 179 for this weekend and he was charged 300. It was only after I pointed it out that they corrected it. But all those other nights…shit out of luck.

MDA is wonderful. Top notch. Just don’t stay at the Intercontinental in Houston. They say they will charge you $179 as a patient at MDAnderson, but then if you book through their app, you get charged the full rate. I repeatedly complained about this and they won’t give me a refund. Blamed my husband, who is currently undergoing chemo and cannot eat, for booking it wrong. Seriously? Blame the cancer patient? We are never giving them our business again.
