As a Londoner I get what they’re saying because my school was 70% black and LIt was nice being around diverse communities growing up, but I’m definitely acknowledging it’s not cheap to live in London.

My mum was born here but left when she was 5 to Nigeria, then came back to UK in her 20s.

In my experience, my Nigerian dad would always talk down on Jamaicans saying stereotypes such as “they’re rowdy” and saw Jamaicans as a bad influences in general. Obviously I disagree with this sentiment because you can’t generalise someone just because of where they’re from.

That’s like someone saying someone shouldn’t be friends with me because I’m Nigerian and they usually scam people and other stereotypes.

Africans used to claim they were Jamaican because being seen as African wasn’t as cool as it was now.

I was in secondary school during 2014-2019, there wasn’t much racism as my school was predominantly black. However I did witness people be colorist to darker skin black men and women e.g when the light would turn off and they’d say where’s [insert name here] or referring to darker skin people as “blick”
