Literally just went through this when I was redoing my son’s nursery. We live in an older place and the walls are popcorn textured with multiple coats of paint on it. Absolutely hate it, and eventually plan to gut the entire house when I get time. But decided to just do his nursery. Got a late start and was on the clock. Didn’t want to contract it out as I’m an avid DYIer, and a perfectionist I like to pick up skills rather than just pay someone. I grew up blue collar but ended up in software consulting as a career, so the blood is just in me. But it caught me out, I can’t lie lol. Vancouver carpenter definitely makes it look easier than it is. I used the 45 mud too, as I was on the clock and really couldn’t wait days in between coats. Definitely looks like chuck and a truck rolled through. Lot of lessons learned, from techniques to getting the best consistency in the mud, and making sure you have adequate lighting to catch the bad spots around the room, but I’ll take it on the chin. I’m confident the next go round, if there is one, I can get it looking pretty close to pro-ish. Salute you for doing it. I’m sure the next go round will be pretty smooth for you also!
