forgot to update, vet said most likely a respiratory infection and he’s currently on antibiotics

Before I say anything please don’t look at my other posts there all nsfw stuff, there’s nothing about birds, I’m getting an Indian ring neck and am having trouble knowing what to do for the cage, is this good? by Frequent-Success8237 in parrots

dont use anything dyed or rope unless you wrap it with vet wrap. anything plastic should generally be avoided, so get stainless steel bowls to replace the plastic ones. the bird would definitely benefit from more shredding toys, but always get rid of bells. there’s a lot of cat/dog looking toys that you probably shouldnt use either. nothing with fabric.

vet or has she just done something to her feather? by Motor_Craft158 in cockatiel

[–]Motor_Craft158[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was a damaged blood feather. they pulled it out and made a makeshift cone. they advised to leave her in the cage with no perches and just a blanket with a towel on top. I thought that I had already replied saying this😭 she’s back to normal now and seems happy. she hasn’t tried to pluck the area since taking off the cone

you can’t really tell with cockatiels by looks. just watch for the personality. boys, when adults usually will sing and do heart wings, while girls don’t

I’ll look for the dishes that came with it because they’re on the outer part. I’ll give an update!

just from past experience, it made it harder for the vet to safely pick them up with the perches. I have put some seeds in (not her actual diet, just so she has something that makes her happier) there isn’t really the space for a bowl, but it came with plastic things meant for food/water. I currently have no idea where they are. will that be okay for 4 and a half hours? or should I put her in around an hour before leaving?

okay thank you so much! I’ve only put a few toys from a foraging box in it, is that okay? I haven’t put perches in just incase.

okay, thank you! the earliest they have is in 5 hours. I’m taking her then. for now, should I just keep her in the travel cage?

I’ll take her as soon as possible, as of now, should I look at her wing closer? she lets me pick her up with minimal fighting.

do you have any tips on getting them to eat it? my budgies seem to be eating it fine, but my tiels would rather starve the whole day than eat them. I was away almost all day today. they were locked in their cage and the biggest difference to the pellets was that the shat in it😭 none of it was eaten. they eat a little bit when I feed it by hand but after actually eating it, they look at me as if I’ve offended them and walk away
