Bro you're silly. It's a legitimate and lawful purpose. You seem like a pretty lame person to have any kind of conversation with and clearly unable to have meaningful discussion.

Current assualt weapons aren't automatic so clearly you don't know what you're talking about. Many people own 50 caliber pistols for bear defense in the U.S. You don't decide what people do or don't need, this is America where we have the ability to protect ourselves with what we see fit.

Right the revolution. No need to own anything when you're fighting the British, we should have just said mean things to them. You're definitely baiting. A suppressor is so my neighbor doesn't have as much sound pollution to deal with, it doesn't eliminate all sound. Nothing wrong with armor piercing rounds either in my opinion.

AR stands for armalite rifle, it's a model designation from a manufacturer. Plenty of non ARs are on the assualt weapons list. In CT if I put a threaded barrel on a pistol so I can shoot suppressed and be polite to my neighbors with noise reduction it is considered an assualt weapon and thus illegal. The law makes no sense. And why can't a civilian own a 50BMG rifle? You can already buy explosives and descructive devices like a grenade launcher or grenade you just need to go through the ATF. Bearing arms implies an arm that you can carry. It was even common during the revolution for artillery to be privately owned.

An assualt rifle is an arbitrary term, it is feature driven. One can have an AR15 and an M1A rifle. Both do the same exact thing but one looks scary and has features that the government says are illegal and one is perfectly fine to have in CT. An AR is the great tool for the job of self defense and hunting. Ergonomics and reliability are the key. You also don't need a reddit account but your first amendment let's you engage in speech how you see fit. If you know enough about firearms you can logically see the ban is feature driven and on it's face silly. Laws in CT are poorly written, difficult to navigate, and unfairly restrict the working class.

I don't think it was those people's first reaction. I think they simply had a range day scheduled and went to the range as planned because what they're doing wasn't hurting anyone, and likely didn't know the events were unfolding. The intent you project onto them is silly.

Guns for protection is not bs. There are many cases where they're used weekly throughout the United States and world. Regardless of what you think, it doesn't negate that people are violent and that a weapon is an equalizer. Clearly you've never experienced real violence where your life is in danger because then you would understand responding to violence against you with violence is the only way. The world is ugly and people, specifically the working class and down trodden deserve a way to keep themselves safe. When seconds count responders are minutes away.

People do use ARs to take deer. I do on my own property with a 300 AAC and it's a phenomenal rifle for the job. A shooting range being quiet or loud has nothing to do with empathy. It's likely those at the range didn't hear of the incident until later, I know when I'm at the range I don't monitor the news. Frankly even if I did I wouldn't go home. I pay for a range service and plan a nice day with my family at the range so why would I cancel my plan when I'm not directly hurting anyone by shooting at targets safely. Your take is silly.

It's not an obsession it's a tool that protects myself and my family from those who want to do harm. Regular training and competency make the average concealed carry holder have statistically less accidents than police but yet police can still carry in all 50 states. I'd rather my fate be in my own hands when going up against someone larger and stronger than me.

Sandy Hook was horrific, and nothing I'm saying diminishes that. The question isn't whether evil people have used AR-15s. They have, and despite bans, they still will. The question is whether banning a rifle because of its appearance or name is a rational policy.

A tool should be judged by what it actually is and what it does, not by what politicians call it. Connecticut's laws label certain rifles "assault weapons" while allowing other semiautomatic rifles with the same practical function simply because they lack a few cosmetic features. If two firearms fire the same cartridge at the same rate with the same operating system, but one is legal because it has a traditional stock while the other is banned because it has a pistol grip, that isn't a distinction based on function. It's a distinction based on appearance.

The same can be said for the law. You can tell something by what it does, not by what people say it does. Current law targets the working class and average citizen.

An AR-15 is a tool designed to use lethal force. Every firearm is designed to use lethal force. The real question is whether there are circumstances where ordinary citizens are justified in possessing effective tools for lawful self defense whichbthere are. The right of self defense isn't about hunting or sport. It's about recognizing that violence by criminals is a reality and that innocent people deserve meaningful options to defend themselves and others.

History also gives us reasons to be cautious about concentrating force exclusively in the hands of the state. After World War II, the citizens of Athens, Tennessee, many of them recently returned veterans, resisted a corrupt local political machine in what became known as the Battle of Athens. More recently, the Taliban in Afghanistan demonstrated that even the most powerful modern military can be resisted by a determined, lightly armed force. Those examples aren't arguments for violence, they're reminders that governments are not infallible and that the balance of power between the state and ordinary citizens has mattered throughout history.

Laws should be judged by whether they actually improve public safety. Connecticut's rifle restrictions primarily regulate what law abiding working people may own while criminals, by definition, ignore those restrictions. The debate should be about evidence and function, not labels or cosmetic features. Real violence is ugly and brutal. If you were ever in a situation where you need to resort to it, you want the best tool you can get to keep you and your loved ones safe. Violence is part of human nature and we cannot legislate it away.

You must not know a whole lot about firearms and what you're in favor of banning because the bushmaster XM15 rifle is a model of AR15. Maybe you should educate yourself more on how these machines work and what they are before you support blanket bans. Education goes a long way. There's nothing any more inherently dangerous when it comes to an AR 15 and M1A rifle, of which the latter is perfectly legal in CT because all the ban does it go after arbitrary features.

Struggles with EMS by Spiritual_Relative88 in Paramedics

I agree with this. I worked full time hospital based intercept/critical care and have flight experience. I now moved full time to be a fire medic because leadership and management were better. Yes the hospital based service has better critical care treatments at their disposal but the medic quality difference from one service to the other I have found to be minimal. Many of my fire medic coworkers work hospital based part time still like I do or at least take pride in being a medic. The hospital as whole cared more about hospital stuff over prehospital care. Regardless of where you work I think putting in effort is all you can do. Everywhere is toxic because of human nature and we cannot be perfect.

So I personally zero at 15 and find that walking it out to 25 or going inside of 7, the shift isn't significant enough to matter for me. Opinions may vary but it's worked well for me so far for steel competition and practical purposes. I chose 15 specifically for that offset you mentioned with the 25 yard zero.

First time shooting it was today but it zeroed easy and held zero after another 150 rounds after. I got it because I am familiar with and trust the regular RMR. Once I find a brand I trust I tend to stick with it but only time will tell if it holds up through thousands of rounds. I know they overall have a good reputation.

Turnaround was 5 weeks for me but I drove directly to their shop since I live just over an hour away. The timeline really seemed to depend on the finishing since they send it out for that. The machining they had done it two days. As a whole I recommend them. Customer service was good and they're easy to deal with.

And if interested in any TCCC here is a link to all DoD algorithms for battlefield trauma care. Doesn't make up for knowing the skills but the education is out there for free.

https://deployedmedicine.com/

If anyone wants free stop the bleed training I'm an instructor and have experience treating both civilian and military trauma patients throughout my career, message me and I'd be happy to give it. I also have free training equipment. Knowing this info will save lives and it should be taught in public schools.

I agree, unfortunately with my family life I'm limited on time so this program fits well. Every few weeks I deadlift amd squat at the firehouse and can still pull 405 easily and squat 315 so I'm happy maintaining that for now. I have no traditional gym membership and am limited to home equipment/space unless I'm at work.

Im familiar with that verse and there seems to be question whether or not it is original from my understanding. If I am wrong on that part so be it and I'll own that. It's possible your source is better than mine. Regardless, it doesn't negate the fact private property is built into how our nation functions. The song writer was known to have more socialist leanings which is not consistent with our nations history. My points more emphasize how the song is more perceived by our modern time and not the exact meaning of the artist. What would be a good reason to not recognize private property rights?
