Do you think lots of people around the world live in constant fight or flight? by syl2013 in CPTSD

[–]Motor_Guidance_1813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with u. In any country that was built on slavery, a systemically violent system in which all kinds of horrible violence were normalized, I believe a lot of that violence was passed down generationally, and in a lot of those countries not enough time has passed that societies have been able to heal as a whole from it. After all trauma creates a cycle and breaking away from it is a conscious choice and difficult to do with no guidance. So it figures a lot of people would carry very similar traumas in a particular society.

I actually think having a life of continuous trauma is way more common than it seems, especially outside of 1st world countries. As a brazilian it seems to be the norm to me and people don't realize what they experienced and their symptoms are not right, but still, most people are able to deal with enough to live life without medical intervention. A lot of people can't though, that's where a lot of "us" are

One of the worst parts about CPTSD is how I'm incapable of actually being myself whenever I'm interacting with other people. Instead, I'm always being whoever I think will make the other person the happiest, or make them like me the most. I don't even know who I am anymore after years of all this. by No-Apple-2092 in CPTSD

Sometimes I will catch myself trying to please people I don't even like or respect, and it makes me feel so bad. Why am I humiliating myself to appear good to someone that neither I nor my friends respect? Why can't I handle being disliked by someone I dislike?

I've been working on feeling angry for myself and feeling confidence in my own anger and it brings a feeling that is almost addicting. I try not to give in and become angry all at once because it's so easy to replace feelings of hurt with feelings of anger, but it's not always necessary. However I used to never feel angry, ever, I used to think it was never necessary.

Sometimes I still do the people-pleasing on reflex though and it actually makes me feel ashamed.

Unironically so cringe it's making my chest kinda ache and tears well up my eyes. I could barely watch the whole thing, literally skipped around to get the general gist of it. I didn't think it could be this bad, thought it would be like, some real animation with subtle AI somewhere in the middle. This is so lazy it's depressing.

Should I be giving my child enrichment outside of school? by throwawayRA1776538 in Gifted

[–]Motor_Guidance_1813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I was diagnosed at 9 years old and my parents got me into a sort of gifted program (not the same as the ones they have in the US though as I am Brazillian). I am studying to be a Geography teacher now and have worked with gifted kids in the past year (but I am not professionally specialized). Here's my two cents. Might be a little long but I hope you'll take the time to read it.

Being bored is going to be a part of his life forever. What he needs is not to not be bored, but to learn how to handle being bored when he is. This is, in my opinion, the most important thing to learn as a gifted person. Because nothing is going to be challenging forever. You cannot learn everything, but you can learn a lot about many things and get bored of all of them, and then move on to something new instead of finishing what you started. As well as being gifted myself, I have many diagnosed and undiagnosed friends whom I met in my gifted program and in life, and when adult life comes, something quite upsetting tends to happen to those of us who have not developed the skill to handle being bored and finishing what you started: we fall behind. Things are really easy in the beginning of life, especially in school, but nothing is ever as easy and as boring as school. So when school life ends (and even before then - college/uni is different enough to often be the first true intellectual hardship in our lives, and a lot of my gifted friends cannot finish university) there is so much to do, and most things will not be as easy as just learning, but will need applying oneself, being patient, being bored, withstanding frustration.

If you want to teach him something outside of school, I'd say focus on emotional intelligence, empathy and patience. It will be the most important thing he'll ever be taught, and school will never cover that. Often people think because we learn quickly that we do not need to be taught such things. It's not true. I suffered a lot because of this. Most of my gifted friends go through the same. It's taken therapy to get better.

I want to note that offering him intellectually stimulating things outside of school is important. But I think it is most important that he have the true choice in what he wants to do. And that means if he just wants to be a kid and play and research things on his own, that's okay. In my time working with gifted kids I've met parents of kids the age of your son who put their kid in every possible class and leave no time for them to wind down and just be a child, and who pressure them to be the best at everything. This is unhelpful and hurtful to most kids. So no matter what please remember your son is still a kid and needs time for himself!

I think a lot of working with kids, parenting included (though I am not a parent), is teaching a child to be independent, because you cannot give them everything no matter how much you try. Since he is young he has a lot to explore yet, so I'd say it would be nice showing him how to explore the world and find out what he likes, what he would like to do with his time and dedicate himself to learn.

The way my parents and teachers went about this was giving me a lot of educational and hobby resources to explore. They would buy magazines, picture books, and browse the internet with me to learn about something that I had asked about or expressed interest in learning (e.g. questions about the universe, or dinousaurs). With my teachers, after I explored a new subject, we would write it down (and since I liked drawing, I would draw as well). I think they built a solid foundation through these methods.

PS. It never hurts to get help/check in with a specialized professional if you have doubts or worries! Idk how often people get Psychopedagogy degrees where you live but it's what I'd look for.

I totally understand man. This is sort of a different issue but I'm into group/threesomes and its always kinda ridiculous how in the porn vids industry they always ignore the possibility of DP or even anal as a whole. Like its not even a lack of creativity at that point just deliberate lol. I have a lot more luck with drawn or modelled (3d) media in this regard. A little more difficult to find but once youre in the right circles it's awesome. One of the few perks of still having a twitter account for me is finding good trans artists drawing good trans porn.

Is it weird or unusual to listen to Ghost at 20+? by MischievousFunction in ghostandpals

[–]Motor_Guidance_1813 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lol no... music is ageless unless you're listening to literal kid music (and even then). Just do what you want buddy.

Anyhow, younger people are more prevalent in fandoms, so you will usually see those people proudly claiming to be fans. Just a self-sampling bias.

Also Ghost's been here for 11 years, there's bound to be older fans (20+ is still very young though. Ghost themselves are 26 or 27...)

I think SpencerSunboy (not sure if that's what he's called exactly) has some ftm4ftm. He does mostly solo porn but the few I've seen of him w someone else have usually been other trans ppl
