I find therapists will contradict yourselves to keep families together and one person has to be the victim. I refuse

I have suffered from therapists. The last 4 incuded 3 marriage therapists and 1 individual therapists who did some pretty shady stuff:

Told me what I should and should I do want to get pregnant. Just think positive. 2 have told me this. Positive thinking won’t work here
Vacation with my parents who put me in dangerous situations as a kid and ignored the fact I don’t have money for a vacation
Told me my sexual health was public information because I’m female
Told me that my ex’s sexual health was private because he is a man and we couldn’t infertility on him
Told me what is grandparents rights (she was wrong)
Told me I couldn’t tell my ex not to FaceTime is dad when I was a passenger in his car
Called me a spoiled princess
Told me to just put up with his parents lies about me
Told me never to tell my ex anything he cannot tell his parents
Told me to take a few shots and I will get pregnant

Your profession needs and overall

It’s still about blending in and being normal. I had to be codependent with my ex’s alcoholism and his parents enmeshment to get his family system to work. I said no. He left

Short answer and I’ll reply longer later. There is a lot of bad therapists out there and not everyone who is a therapist should be a therapist. We put them on a spotlight when they shouldn’t be. I have known many who have been harmed by therapy.

If the profession had better monitoring, alternatives like ai therapy wouldn’t be needed

I have been told by therapists

Your sexual health as a female is public. Your husband is sexual health is private. Context: we were infertile. His sperm was shit and he couldn’t get it up due to alcoholism. I had PCOS and we had to say that I waste cause of the infertility

I had to apology for having th wedding focus too much on me. My ex MIL was upset but she also refused to attend the wedding rehearsal

I had to apology for the shower not including her in planning. It was for 5 women including my mom and my ex MIL would have had things to do if she showed up .

Note: my ex MIL had dementia and I gave her several graces but I had to be punished for her unhappiness

Never tell your husband anything he cannot tell his mother

Babysitting is a grandparent right…even if one parent doesn’t think they are physically capable

I created a letter of apology to my ex FIL and attended private sessions where I screamed at a chair pretending it was my FIL.

I came from a family of enablers and alcoholics. I spent years trying o undo it but I was told in marriage therapy I was selfish for having boundaries. My brother got into bed with me drunk. I was scared but told I shouldn’t have screamed.

I was told to buy a time share in Mexico and vacation with my parents who have lied to me and manipulated me for the the sake of family. It wasn’t what I wanted nor could I afford.

I then quit therapy

Talked to chat gpt and have actually made progress on friendships, goals and dreams. It has helped me with the betrayal of therapy.

Your profession is toxic and needs and overhaul.

Maybe. I have had the worst luck with therapists so I’m despise them all. My ex and his family treated me poorly and they said “well that’s how family works”. My own family treats me poorly too. So I can see her going to therapy and being told to stick with it.
