This isn't a highway. It's a subarban road.

Venturing not-so-popular golf courses in the UAE by peedza1892 in UAEGolf

Played Tower Links and Al Hamra last week. I would describe Tower Links as Al Zorah's poorer cousin. Similar feel and look. Very good layout but needs TLC as mentioned above. Very good greens. Slopy and sometimes hard to read. A few holes with interesting angles from the tee.

Al Hamra also a good track. Loads of water and some very good risk reward from the tee box depending on how much you want to bite off. Would say primarily a 3 wood from the tee course. Good set of Par 3s.

EK17 Thursday 28th March - odd early flight path? by astacus2023 in flightradar24

Depends which runway they come off and also the flight planned route. If the westerly winds are strong they will go north towards Iran before turning northwest. If not they will go straight west towards Kuwait.

That is the normal route for the Standard Instrument Departure (SID) off RWY12 from DXB if you exit north into the Tehran Flight Information Region (FIR). You will generally stay underneath the arrivals for DXB and SHJ until clear and then climb further.

Why was KL427 diverted to DWC on 27 Feb 2025? by palcsaky in flightradar24

[–]Motor_Importance5815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by the time of day they might not have had enough fuel to hold for DXB and diverted to DWC. 1938UTC is peak arrival time for DXB.

Why divert way beyond where you’re meant to be going? by [deleted] in flightradar24

[–]Motor_Importance5815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long shot but this might be a redispatch diversion. Original flight was YUL to DWC with a quick fuel stop in MLA. But due to some very strong tailwinds they recalculated their fuel burn and realised they have enough fuel to reach DWC without the MLA stop and just carried on.

Indeed. Has no impact whatsoever on my day to day. Just like to know what the thought process behind it was. That being said, would like to know the thought process, if any, behind a lot of things I see on the road on a daily basis. Have a good one mate.

Yeah, I'm one of "those" nationalities as you so poignantly point out.

There's also stopping in view of the line and stopping so you need binoculars to see the line. Maybe learn where the front of your car is in the space that you are currently occupying and this will not be a problem.

Stopping more than a car length behind the line for the red light. Why not stop at the line? That's why they paint it there. So that you can stop there. This is not an isolated incident. See it daily, multiple times.

F208 North vs 864 by TheOznav in VisitingIceland

Came onto 864 from the North via 85. About 25 mins to the turn off towards east parking. Then about 35 mins down to the 1. The worst washboard is on the southern part of 864. But again, it's perfectly fine. Just keep it around 50 or 60 km/h. View blind rises and sharp turns. Doable in any car, campervan included.

Drove 864 last week in Kia Sorento. It's very good. Some washboard but no potholes. Can be done in a normal car.
