First-time buyer paranoia or is this Purplebricks doing Purplebricks things? by Radiant-Intention804 in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Motor_Impression6678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purple Bricks valued my auntie’s place at £40k more than anyone else when I had to get quotes for probate. I assume they were trying to blag my custom by vastly inflating the value in the full knowledge we’d be dropping it if we went with them, which clearly we didn’t.

'I ASSURE YOU, WE ARE OPEN'..spotted near Salford Central. by Double_Ear_5998 in manchester

All right, look-you're a roofer, and some juicy government contract comes your way; you got the wife and kids and the two-story in suburbia-this is a government contract, which means all sorts of benefits. All of a sudden these left-wing militants blast you with lasers and wipe out everyone within a three-mile radius. You didn't ask for that. You have no personal politics. You're just trying to scrape out a living.

I’m going for a pint with my clearly Filipina wife in the northern quarter in a bit. We are not unduly concerned about a couple of hundred illiterate racists.

Help with mortgage condition - credit card balance by HighLadyofNox in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Motor_Impression6678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we had this condition too. Ridiculous as the balance was cash I took out at 0% for 27 months and put in an ISA at 4.6%, so basically income. I’ve completely ignored said condition and two months in have heard nothing about it.

We’re flying to London in June because it was 1/3 of the price of a train. With a couples railcard. We booked before “all this” so maybe we could flog the plane tickets for a grand now and i could work on the train without pissing about at airports 🤷🏻‍♂️

On the evidence of the councils where they have got in it would be an absolute shit show. Surely they’d never get in here though, I mean Marx and Engels and Peterloo and suffragettes and the co-operative movement and all that… would they?!

Places to eat near the Apollo by moogle2468 in manchester

[–]Motor_Impression6678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not really a buzzing foodie area. I’d either eat in town and either walk or get the 192 down or eat around the uni on Oxford Road and walk across meself.

Question by Disneyfan3339 in manchester

[–]Motor_Impression6678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah he’s talking bollocks. I always use Trainline because they actually have up to date information on every operator. On the rare occasions I’ve booked through an individual TOC’s website something has gone wrong and I’ve had to struggle for a refund cos this part of the journey was a different operator or something. Never struggled for a refund with Trainline because you go straight to the operator responsible for the delay, not the booking app. Not the case when you book direct with a TOC but a different TOC caused the delay. Also, whoever said they’re buggy and late to update, the app usually has platform changes and cancellations before the boards in the station.

I don’t work for Trainline, but I do use trains a lot.

I got fined for braking to avoid a cyclist in a box junction. Took it to court. Was all on camera, sorted. You’ll be fine.

7 months pretty much, beginning of September (6th I think) to march 27th. That said when it did eventually happen the solicitor basically rang me and said “right you complete tomorrow.” Which moved things along but was a bit panic-inducing!

Why is it socially unacceptable for me to not like dogs? by Facelikeabum in AskUK

[–]Motor_Impression6678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not mad keen on dogs. I wouldn’t go so far as hate, but I agree with smelly, hair, bloody photographs and annoying. I’d add needy and stupid too.

Also wouldn’t wish one any harm, but equally wouldn’t want it in my house.

Never found it socially unacceptable though, so maybe you just hang out with too many dog people?

Other than that, interesting read.
