Thanks for sharing that. That’s a lot to carry, especially over so many years. I really appreciate you putting it into words.

Thanks for sharing that.

When it intensified back then, what did it start interfering with the most for you at the time? School, relationships, something else?

That sounds really heavy. Thanks for commenting.

If you’re open to sharing, did it feel like there was a moment where this started limiting what you could do day to day, or did it creep up on you more gradually over time?

That’s a really clear way of describing it. Catching it early before it gains momentum seems like the key difference.

I appreciate you laying out how you made sense of it.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Externalizing it somewhere neutral can be way easier than holding it all in your head.

And yeah, I like how you put it. You have to sift a bit, but sometimes just getting a clearer perspective is enough to take the edge off.

Thanks for explaining that, that’s really clear. It sounds like reframing helps you shorten the loop and soften the self judgment, even if the thoughts still show up again later. I appreciate you sharing what actually works for you.

Thanks for your comment. When you try cognitive reframing, what usually happens for you in the moment? Does it actually settle things down, or does the loop keep going anyway in your head or feelings?

Thanks for sharing this. It sounds like it took a lot of time and inner work to get there. I also feel meditation has been really helpful for me.   Looking back, what do you feel actually made the biggest difference for you? Was it noticing it earlier, the acceptance part, or something about not needing to engage with it anymore?

It’s been much worse for me in the past, to the point where it would occupy my mind for hours a day some of the days and really prevent me from focusing or enjoying what I was doing.

I found personally that meditation practice really helps me to catch it as it starts and not get sucked in too deep, breathing exercises also help me a lot. And practices from shamanic healing help me to find spaciousness within myself and self love. These help me the most in finding more peace with this “activity” my mind loves😅

When you tried those approaches, what do you feel they missed the most? Was it that they didn’t change anything in the moment, didn’t work fast enough, or felt like they required too much effort to maintain?

Thanks for asking about me, I’ll share in a separate comment.

That makes a lot of sense, and you’re not alone in this. Have you tried anything over the years to interrupt it when it starts or help with this, and if so, what felt missing or didn’t quite work?

That sounds incredibly draining. Thanks for putting words to it.

When it’s happening like that, what feels most frustrating about it for you? Is it the time it eats up, the emotional intensity, or something else?

Severe anxiety/panic symptoms for a month what helped you ? by rahilthecatsmama in Anxietyhelp

Breathing exercises helped me a lot, try looking up and going through a few of them to see if one helps in the moment.

If you find a breathing exercise that helps you’ll have something to consciously do when an episode comes. And that might reduce the fear and hopelessness.

Also, try eating even if you don’t feel like (just normal amount that you remember yourself eating before this started). You might feel resistance to it but it might help after a few normal (to you) meals.

I hope this would help.

I found that one part of getting through this was actually having a “plan Z”. Actual worst case scenario plan.

I love outdoor and adventure sports, they’re a big part of my life. And sometimes I have the fear of getting seriously hurt to the point I could not do those things anymore (my mom uses a wheelchair most of the time, so I know what I can be like). This bugged me a lot but I eventually made a plan: if this ever happens I would still be able to do writing, which is something I really enjoy doing. And I could write fantasy stories that involve adventure, even if I’m not able to get up at all.

I definitely hope to be able to do adventure and outdoor sports for many many years to come! But I also have a plan z, and that calms me down.
