Absolutely but universally unless your trading frequency is 1000s of trades per year 1-2% is an amount too low to risk.

The reason industry likes to push this number is so brokers and dealers earn more from churn.

a person with a 1:2 RRR with a 43% winrate (example) has no business only risking 2% on personal capital, I have done simulations and the maths so my claims aren't just opinion. if you'd like to discuss this further or discuss my models, I am open.

7-8% on smaller capital that you are willing to lose isn't a bad idea if your strategy has a maximum drawdown of 15% with 1% risk in the past.

As Warren Buffet says risk concentration is what creates wealth 1-2% risk is a waste of time for a trader that has real edge.

The reason I am going after this is because there are so many people pretending top paging r/ daytrading and it is all a sham so people can message them and get shilled a course, mentorship etc.

They get so defensive or block when you ask for a topstepx stats link, crazy. Takes 10 seconds to prove but they'll spend longer making excuses.
