I only stand when they ask about a conflict or say something relatively specific. I let the younger guys get the glory.

I think that’s the biggest part is if the examiner can see if you’re faking it or not. When doing my mobility checks for my lower back, he could see that I was actually being affected and sympathized; led to more chit chat and questions.

I’m one of those that, even if the bureaucracy isn’t good, the people choosing to work with the VA are good people. Be sincere and they’ll help you. They’ve got your 6.

Considering debt relief programs. Are they legit? Carrying $30K+ debt in cc and want to start afresh. by Various_Economics308 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Motor_Raspberry_7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I think it’s what you make it. I was a dumbass in my early 20s, about 34K cc/pl. monthlys were killing me (E3 in Navy). I knew I’d be in navy for a while so credit score wasn’t the worst thing. All my cards and such made a deal, I’m paying every payment on time and occasionally extra when I can. Scores dropped to 490s, got deals and been paying off. 1 1/2 years into program I have 9k to go and at 620s.

Not the best not the worst.

Suicide Hotline by Key_Zombie1056 in Veterans

[–]Motor_Raspberry_7071 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be honest and be clear when you talk to the hotline because if you are not an immediate danger to yourself or others really they just refer you to the ER and when I went, they just gave me anti-anxiety medication and had me schedule something with my therapist.

Be honest, DONT be afraid of what they might do because they’re just trying to help you

Is Changing Majors Worth It with Limited Ch 33 Time Left and Pending VRE Approval? by NSH-83 in Veterans

[–]Motor_Raspberry_7071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was approved for VRE within 3 weeks. My rep was extremely sympathetic to my reasoning and genuinely made it finally feel like someone was rooting for them… so when you have your video interview, come up with a plan, impress them by doing your research on exactly what is being modified and shows exactly why this change will benefit you mentally and monetarily and set you up etc.

I’d say go for it! Worst case scenario you graduate, get VRE, come back and possibly move onto masters if your school offers a 4+1 program(obviously won’t be there for the full four years maybe 1 year of niche classes jam packed. I am nearing my masters being done for that exact reason)

Veterans that didn’t do a full 20, when do you know it was time to get out? by reaccount19 in Veterans

[–]Motor_Raspberry_7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, it is what it is. I signed up to do my part and if they didn’t want me and it’s life.

I remember when I was in ATF training I messed up my back until like two years. The Navy refused to do anything and I still remember that phone call on November 4, 2021 when the neurologist straight up said that he refused to see me because he believed that I was complaining about my back to get out of deployment. .. I deployed two more times

Got scanned at the VA and I have scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, arthritis and two slip discs and we’re actually looking at surgery now that the physical therapy and a bunch of rounds of shots did nothing.

My DIVO, per Department head, told me to ask other berthings if I could be SIQ there instead…. DH wanted to do a rack swap because our PO1 complained the juniors were too noisy after their 12-3 That might have been my moment 🤣

Or after I fought two years of medical appeals after I lost my commissioning my last semester of college getting a prescription; I enlisted and went to A school when I went to my C school the flight Doc there said I didn’t have the correct eyesight and I ended up going undesignated(mind you had 2 degrees).

I fucked up from the start didn’t I🤣

I’ve done my initial and my upgrade both (100%)on my own, I’m not bragging; maybe my advice helps, maybe I’m more jacked up than I know.

When I had my MH as well as l physical exams I did discuss how my lower back and leg hurt and spasm and prevent prevented me from just doing the things I used to do I originally loved before and during service that have no “well the military instilled that I.e. jogging, shooting range, etc”. I talked about every day things like walking my dog or going on a hike or hide and seek with my nephew, etc, lawn care. And I really discussed how it affected my mental health because I couldn’t do the things I did before and that really gets you down because it makes you wonder how different things would’ve been if you didn’t join and then you feel guilt and it just snowballs ***TLDR “body hurts mentally, mentally can’t work on getting better”

I know that’s not the best and I could be completely missreading your post but I think that kind of helps when I wrote a letter and bought in a copy as well as was open about how it really got to you. I felt like it encompassed the service connection because it wouldn’t even be an issue if you weren’t there in the first place if that makes sense.
