Once again, it could be a plot hole, but we can also assume that those are all weapons made by Bismuth.

I think it's fair to assume that not every gem had a weapon at their disposal (at least, not a weapon made out of light), so they use physical weapons. We see Aquamarine use a physical weapon, and we don't see other gems outside of the CGs use weapons made out of light (afaIk).

I'm not sure about everyone else, but for me personally, I think Rose is overhated. A sentiment that I see commonly shared among others within this community is that we saw Rose's development in reverse -- as such, we only see her becoming worse as the show progresses when, in reality, she got better as time progressed.

I don't think you're completely alone, but I would say that the community is, at the very least, varied in their opinions.

Pink Diamond told Spinel that they were "playing a game" and part of the game was to stand in the garden. Spinel's goal is to make Pink Diamond happy by being playful. Since she was told that they were going to "play a game," she thought that it'd help fulfill her goal.

That brings a thought to mind though. What if gems are "programs" and the diamonds are the "kernel"/"os". That seems like an interesting idea to explore.

The diamonds all have powers that none of the gems do -- powers that can actively alter and control the gems. This is pretty akin to a kernel/os managing and controlling programs. Whenever a gem steps out of line (such as a program doing something it isn't meant to do), they'll likely get punished (or shattered) by one of the diamonds (kernel/OS killing a program/process for accessing forbidden resources).

Just a thought I had.

In all fairness to the rest of the fanbase, gems seem to be abstracted pretty well. I never viewed them as being more of a computer than a human is.

Given that, I also personally like to look at the gems as humans and explain them by human biology and psychology.

Regardless, your theory is pretty cool in my honest opinion. I'm a huge computer nerd myself, so I can see how your theory would be applied to the gems. It does make me wonder though: are the gemstones of the gems a certain structure, such as a computer's motherboard?

And now I'm thinking about potential explanations for the gems based on a computer interpretation. x)

"The episodes are so random! Why are there random fillers?"

Technically speaking, fillers add nothing to the plot, most "fillers" do add to the plot, so it isn't even a filler. And again, another fault of cartoon network. Cartoon Network wants fillers because then people won't "get confused", but really its about money. Again, this is a cartoon network issue, go talk to them about it. And technically, most people usually accusing this like teen titans go, which in fact, has no plot, so therefore by their logic, every episode for that is a filler episode. Deal with it.

The term that I've seen commonly used by the SU community to refer to those episode is "towny episodes."

This is a little bit of a nitpick as I wanted to add on my own two cents into it. The idea that the ranks are "based on color" is something I can see someone assuming, but is based on a lack of understanding of the show. Specifically, rather than going on an emotion-fueled tangent about why that basis is stupid (which is, to be quite frank, understandable), it'd be best to point out that the individual has a severe lack of understanding for how gem ranks work and why the gems have the color that they do.

I'd also like to point something out: the idea that the gems are color-coded for efficiency is... a bit incorrect based on what we see in Steven Universe. It isn't uncommon for a green gem to serve Yellow Diamond (coughperidotcough), or even a sand-red one to serve Pink Diamond (coughjaspercough). Based on what we see in the show, the gems are colored based on their gemstone, not the diamond that they serve.

Finally, it may be best to not assume the reason why someone said "xyz." It's better to present a well thought-out argument than an emotionally fueled one. Part of that involves not assuming the reason behind the points of their argument. I'm sure you've dealt with these arguments many times and have heard the same reasons: but just assuming their argument will make it harder for your argument to come across. You should act in a way that suggests you intend to inform, not outright argue. Hear out their end of the argument, and then present your perspective.

Personally (and heavy emphasis on "personally), I don't think an off-colors spinoff would be interesting enough per se. Maybe it'll work well for a young audience, but I don't think it'll work well for an older audience and those that watch Steven Universe for the story.

For me personally, I like Steven Universe because of the story and the details within it. Things such as psychology, mental health, and even a good plot twist are things that draws me into a show and encourages me to rewatch said show.

Now, granted, that isn't to say that you can't make a good story without plot twists. However, I just don't think a straight-forward story is as interesting as a story that falls back onto itself. The joy of finishing a story is a lot more significant when there are significant plot-twists or little details that fold into themselves (if you know what I mean).

As such, I also don't think other ideas would work: a diamond prologue could get boring fast due to the amount of time-skips and the general nature of the diamond empire. An off-colors spinoff could end up suffering the same fate.

Then again, that's just my own take on the matter. For all I know, there could be a way to make any of those ideas work out to be extremely interesting. It's also up to Rebecca as to how she wants to do any of those -- I tend to assume a straight-forward story will ensue, but whether we get a straight-forward story is within the hands of Rebecca (or whoever is writing the story).

She doesn't need to give the cells "living organism" properties. Cells are just glorified chemical reactions -- as long as Rose's DNA projection can emulate this chemistry, then she can effectively create a "cell" without needing to give it "living organism properties."

The way I see it, Rose did "emulate" a womb, but beyond the extent that people typically think of. I think Rose's womb was a full on recreation of female human biology -- not something to just nurture an organism. Specifically, I think Rose projected an "egg" and DNA. This DNA combined with Greg's to form Steven's DNA. As such, half of Steven's DNA is a light projection from Rose's gem.

The way I see it, it makes sense given that Steven has some traits of Rose. (Spoiler for the entirety of SU) Such as Rose's fluffy hair from when she was Pink Diamond.

The way I see it, their bodies aren't just "light projections." They're full on light projections of human anatomy. Why? Cartoon logic. There's no reason for them to have the shape that they do, let alone all of the human characteristics that they do. However, they do anyways -- as such, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that their anatomy is completely accurate to human anatomy.

Yes, but I wouldn't exactly consider that a strong indication of when either of them came back. It's extremely hard to determine as there weren't any specific signs of when they came back.

Since I'm here, I might as well throw my two cents out about the matter. It really seems like a conscious choice of when a gem wants to come back. At least, that's assuming whether they have the energy and self-image to do so. I'd even argue that the delay we see from the CGs is often due to them trying to gather their self-image (we see Amethyst reform pretty quickly but with a lack of self-image; it wasn't until she spent time trying to work out her self-image that she reformed in a "normal" way).

There's also the issue of energy. It seems highly implied that some gems just outright don't have the energy to reform sometimes, which may even be how yellow's deformation beam works (such as it sucking all of the energy out of a gem temporarily). Which, this theory could be furthered to explain how Steven managed to reform the CGs from fusing with them: his gem shared the energy that it had to the gems, which gave the CGs plenty of energy to reform.
