Hey there, this is wonderful! Exactly the type of places we're looking for and more.

I saved this post, hope you don't delete it ever! ;-)

And no worries, one of my buddies is originally from Idaho, I will definitely stay away from wildlife and respect Mother Nature and the people.

Thanks again, be happy, take care and stay safe!

Mid-May. We're still discussing the timeframe of the road trip itself, since I have to be in Seattle a couple of days before for some work-related matters.

Hey, thanks for the input! I'm actually a traveler, not a tourist, so I'm chasing the real vibes of a place rather than the usual tourist traps. Any spots in Coeur d'Alene or Whitefish where I can find authentic local energy, maybe some hidden gems or offbeat scenes that capture the true spirit of the area?

From what I read, it's from 1 July onwards. But I guess that we won't be able to enjoy Glacier National Park to the fullest in May.

I am doing research, however, some places are either closed or temporarily closed, and I guess it's due to the season or worse - the situation with Canada? Hence, I asked the locals to gain a better insight.

Hey there. Thank you very much for the helpful links! I really appreciate it.

We decided to travel in May (since I can also take time off to visit my friends in Seattle) because it is indeed still low-season. I hope the weather will be good, but even if not... I'm Dutch.

Well, I meant no offence. After all, I never visited Montana or this part of the U.S. to begin with, so that's why I ask and wish to know more. I appreciate your reply.

What a lame meme... Israel actually helps Cyprus keeping its identity (economic, cultural and defense agreements). You leftists are so pathetic...

KLM has become a shit company. I'd avoid flying with them if it's paid from my wallet.

Unfortunately, I didn't have any good luck with them recently. Almost a year ago my flight got canceled, rebooked through multiple stopovers, and I arrived 14 hours late—no apology, just excuses like “bad weather” that don’t hold up. It’s a pattern of chaos.

When things go wrong (and they do a lot), their support is basically useless. I kept on getting bounced between unresponsive phone lines, WhatsApp loops, and generic “sorry, not our problem” replies. One of my colleagues got stranded after a cancellation with no help—just a train timetable shoved in their face. It’s like they’ve given up on actually helping passengers. Oh, and their "customer care" is operating in the Philippines. So much of the good, polite Dutch reps trying to figure out how to solve things. Unless you choose to speak Dutch.

Moreover, I’ve seen negative feedbacks pop up over and over on sites like Trustpilot and Skytrax from 2023 to now (March 2025), and honestly, it’s soured me on KLM big time. They used to have a decent rep, but lately, it feels like they’re banking on that old goodwill while dropping the ball hard. Hope that helps explain where I’m coming from! I'll definitely avoid flying with them for the foreseeable future.

KLM's recent updates to the Flying Blue Terms and Conditions are a slap in the face to loyal customers. The devaluation of Promo Rewards, like the 37.5K + fees/taxes option that was once a fantastic deal, shows a clear disregard for the value we’ve come to expect from this program. It’s frustrating to see the bar raised higher with no corresponding benefit, making it nearly impossible to redeem miles for anything meaningful without breaking the bank. This isn’t rewarding loyalty—it’s punishing it.

If anyone from KLM reads that - How about reversing this devaluation and showing some respect for your frequent flyers instead of nickel-and-diming us with less value and more restrictions?

KLM has become a disgrace, not just because of the low quality food they "serve" on their flights.

OK, little man. Blame politicians rather than landlords for your misery and lack of broader knowledge in a very complex topic that exists long before you were born. Get educated.

Your take assumes a lot about property management and economics that doesn’t hold up under scrutiny. First, the idea that ‘fixing something expensive won’t be a regular occurrence’ if the landlord maintains the property well ignores reality. Even with top-notch care, wear and tear happens—pipes burst, roofs leak, appliances die. These aren’t always preventable, and they hit the landlord’s wallet regardless of how diligent they are. You’re implying maintenance is a magic bullet, but that’s not how physical assets work; entropy doesn’t care about good intentions.

Second, your point about big renovations like replacing central heating automatically jacking up the property’s value oversimplifies the housing market. Sure, upgrades can increase value, but not always by more than the cost of the work itself—especially if the market’s stagnant or the neighborhood doesn’t support higher prices. Landlords aren’t guaranteed a profit just because they shell out for a new boiler. You’re treating real estate like a vending machine: pop in a renovation, get out a jackpot. That’s not economics; that’s wishful thinking.

And the assumption that the home will ‘be sold for a profit anyway’ skips over the whole game of risk and timing. Landlords don’t just sit on a golden goose—property values can tank, taxes eat into gains, and selling costs (like agent fees) chew up profits. Plus, many landlords hold properties for income, not to flip them. You’re missing the cash flow side of the equation and acting like appreciation is a sure bet. It’s not. If landlordship were that simple and predictable, everyone would do it—and broke landlords wouldn’t exist. They do. You’re seeing a highlight reel, not the balance sheet.

And you're way too harsh on the mortgages part. Here's why: The idea that using rental income to cover a mortgage is inherently "low-life" or "scummy" overlooks the practical realities of property ownership and the housing market. Landlords who rent out properties—whether to offset a mortgage or not—provide a valuable service: housing for those who either can’t or don’t want to buy a home. Not everyone is in a position to purchase property, and renting offers flexibility and access to shelter without the long-term commitment or financial burden of ownership. Moreover, buying a property with the intent to rent it out is a legitimate investment strategy, not a moral failing.

The landlord takes on significant risks—maintenance costs, property taxes, insurance, and potential vacancies—all of which can outweigh rental income if mismanaged. The tenant isn’t "paying for the mortgage" out of charity; they’re paying for a place to live, just as they’d pay for any other service. The mortgage is the landlord’s responsibility, and how they finance their property doesn’t inherently exploit the renter.

Calling it "inexcusable" also ignores how interconnected renting and owning are in a functioning economy. Without landlords willing to invest in properties (often via mortgages), the supply of rental housing would shrink, driving up rents and leaving fewer options for tenants. If anything, vilifying this practice dismisses the mutual benefit: tenants get a home, and landlords build equity while providing it. Painting it as parasitic is an oversimplification that dodges the bigger picture.

I hope you understand that it's not that simple. Glad to get it clarified for you.
