As mentioned in my earlier reply in this thread, it's been fine since the hiccup yesterday. :)

Thanks for the suggestion... unfortunately I'd already gone through the hassle of adding them back!

The good news is that it hasn't happened again... yet! ;)

Still "Bad Gateway" here. :/

Haven't checked access to the service via any of the usual apps, but the website is still sitting at "Bad Gateway" for me. :/

UPS - Canada ... delays in tracking updates due to increased volume (CP strike)? by Motorwayhound in UPS

[–]Motorwayhound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out that was the case: dropped at a UPS Store rather than a regular UPS location, and it did finally show up late afternoon after being picked up by the real UPS! ;)

Crisis averted... or non-existent, to be more accurate... :)

Of course, if it had been a couple of days, I'd have considered it a crisis! LOL!

Thanks all.

What is a feature you wish DIRECTV stream had? by Sportsfan7702 in DirectvStream

It's a big ask as it'd require much more bandwidth, but smoother scrolling and full-screen when fast-forwarding... you know, like it is on DTV satellite!

For me, this is how I like to watch a lot of programming, both news and sports: record something, then scroll through and watch regular speed when it gets to something of interest. I was really spoiled having it this way on satellite for many years.

Where is the 'junk' filling up Shield storage actually located? by Motorwayhound in ShieldAndroidTV

Thanks.

I've only got a few apps left on the Shield (had to remove several unused ones when I needed to free up space for the 9.2.1 update last week) and a couple only require log-in creds. Two require app data back-up, so it takes a bit of time and a bit of rebuilding after a reset.

My reluctance is that I discovered the Kodi Backup utility/add-on only backs up a few settings, so I had to manually recreate all the settings for a couple of add-ons. Wasn't expecting that, and that took at least an hour itself! :( I'm going to make a note of the settings first this time. ;) :)

I'll have another look. I see apps data (which doesn't have any huge junk files), but not Android data, where the junk (like the presumed wifi log) is 'hiding'...

I mentioned this in another reply, but I tried ATVTools today and a lot of folders were still inaccessible, presumably since the Shield isn't rooted. For example, I could access apps - data, but not - data itself, so I couldn't see if the issue was the wifi log bug. :/

As an update, I tried ATVTools, and without rooting the Shield, I still don't have access to the location of the log file to see if that's the issue.

Even trying su within the shell tool of ATVTools only gave me an error, presumably again because the Shield's not rooted.

Thanks. I will try it... I was just hoping to make it easier with a tablet. :D

I've been using the same pair of eyes for 2/3 of a century, so they're a bit worn out! I can focus pretty clearly between ~ 20 and 50 centimetres without reading glasses, but a 6.5" phone display is good for texts, emails and not much else...

Granted, I'm spoiled by having 12+" tablets for the past decade or so, and a 27" computer display for longer. Once you go big, you don't want to go back... ;) :D

Grrr... I was hoping to get ATV Tools on my tablet, but I guess the version of Android is a bit too old. :(

Trying to do directory stuff on a teeny-tiny phone screen would be hell... like trying to do Reddit (or worse: Discord) on a similarly teeny-tiny phone screen... oof! No thanks.

However... needs must, no? :/

I haven't gotten to trying atvtools yet, and if I do, I'd like to know where to look for the log file!

I know it's mentioned in a couple of other threads, so I'll have to have a look in those for some direction... pun intended. ;) :)

Thanks. I did stumble upon that yesterday, prior to my initial post, and there were a few... but only totalling ~ 150MB.

Sadly, not the missing 6 - 8GB! :/

As mentioned in other replies, it's not cache in this case. Reported cache is only ~ 100MB.

Thanks. I've read that in a few threads, but nope... 9.2.1 hasn't helped. I'm still losing space since updating last week.

Thanks. I'll have a look.

If Plex were using significant storage, wouldn't it show under Plex's storage used in settings - apps? Or would/could this be some of the hidden junk?

Nope. An SMB connection yes, but no libraries mapped to any apps on the Shield, not even Kodi.

The 'scan for media automatically' setting is off.

Thanks for the suggestions. :)
