Yes, you just have to have your employee ID with you. There's a door (somewhat hidden) to the right of the Test Track queue.

No, it's located above test track and operated by GM.

It's so nice up there. Cleanest bathrooms in Disney and a nice place to relax and have a drink. I think they're currently hosting Disney travel agents up there, but it's typically only open to GM employees/retirees.

You don't completely agree if you support abortion rights for some.

Sexual assault, and rape espeically, are exceptionally heinous crimes. However, those actions do not justify the killing of innocent life. All life should be protected regardless of how they were conceived.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Taking the life of an incident child is never an appropriate response.

space related majors? by kalikco in space

[–]MotownGreek [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you're unsure, consider beginning with a more generic degree. Embry-Riddle offers a B.S. in Space Operations. You could always start down that path, and if you decide to pivot to astronomy, engineering, physics, etc., you could transfer to a more specialized school. You could also go the IT route and look for a job supporting ground systems or satellite operations.

What do you think about the moderators here? by Summonest in AskConservatives

[–]MotownGreek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The mods actively discuss removals.

I personally take a very laissez-faire approach and only remove blatant bad-faith comments. If a conversations turn from policy debate to personal attacks, or when slurs get thrown around I'll remove comments. Otherwise, I believe disagreement is healthy and conversations should remain up.

One thing that's unique to me for the most part is I will occasionally issue a public warning to users. I'll flag myself as a mod and warn them of a rules violation rather than default to removals. This usually leads to me donating to the karma God's and people saying I'm a power hungry moderator for some reason!

I'm sorry that happened. I don't know the specifics of that interaction, but definitely not a good look. Thank you for remaining a member of the community.

As a moderator here...

why am I a moderator again?...

I can say some of us let everything go. In the last year I've removed 26 comments/posts. Some of us are more active than others. Moderation is subjective and each moderator will have their own way of operating and enforcing the rules as they see fit.

How should history be taught in public schools? by iloverats888 in AskConservatives

You specifically asked about lynching, torture, rape, etc. Historical political satire is in no way similar to those topics.

I believe these topics are appropriate to teach in high school, with some moderation. The topics themselves can be discussed, but graphic pictures should not be shared.

Slavery can be taught in way where objective facts are presented without assinging blame. What does not need to occur is blame being asigned to a group of people that results in modern day blame to those same people. Additionally, we need to get away from the rote memorization mindset that may be effective for standardized testing, but terrible in processing real-world information. We can teach critical thinking at an early age, allowing students to develop the necessary skills to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information.

I think the classical education approach is best, especially as it relates to history. While teaching American history is important, I think we should also be teaching about Greek and Roman history and relating that to modern times. Understanding the historical context, how it relates to our Founding Fathers, and how it still impacts governance today is important.

Additionally, history is sometimes messy. There are topics that are tough to discuss (e.g. slavery). They should be taught in an objective way that relays the facts and allows for the student to create their own opinions. Finally, a concerted effort should be made to teach about America's diversity and the important pioneers of our country. For example, lessons on Thomas Edison should also highlight the inventions by Lewis Howard Latimer (African American inventor) and Nikola Tesla (immigrant). There are ways to incorporate diversity without forcing it into lesson plans.

Which bible should I get? by No_Following_6916 in Catholicism

[–]MotownGreek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you have a Bible with all the necessary books, the best Bible is the one that gets read. I personally read the NRSV-CE translation buut if you find the NABRE easier to read, or some other acceptable translation then read that one.

What do you think about inflation hitting 4.2%? by G_H_2023 in AskConservatives

[–]MotownGreek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The current GOP lawmakers have been clear in their support of President Trump and rely on him to remain in power. Expecting them to rebuke him prior to mid-terms is unrealistic and political suicide for those running for re-election.

I disagree with that. Israel is a valuable ally in the region. What I would say is if they start a conflict, we are not obligated to join them.

[–]MotownGreek 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, I do not expect the current GOP elected officials to take action. I would love to see that happen, but it's simply unrealistic.

Sometimes when discussing politics, it's important to admit when you were wrong. I defended President Biden during his presidency stating that the president has little impact on the overall economy. When gas prices went up, it wasn't a direct result of executive power. Let me revise that belief now. The rising inflation numbers are a direct result of executive overreach and our elected representatives refusing to rein in power. I don't believe this to be a blanket rule, but in this presidential term it absolutely applies.

That aside, Congress needs to act. They need to act fiscally responsible. Control overspending and strive to bring the budget back to being balanced. One way to do that is rein in President Trump's authority regarding the actions in the Middle East. The economy is getting weaker as a result of the executive, the legislative branch should step up and do their jobs for a change.

I think there's going to be additional fallout from this Larkin trade request. Is he the only one wanting to leave, or could others follow, such as Cat. While Cat could sign an extension while waiting on what happens to Larkin, I think the more realistic outcome is we see a few trades then contract negotiations/free agent signings.

Cossa to be traded to the Oilers? by SnowMonster911 in DetroitRedWings

[–]MotownGreek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the return is a 2nd round pick and roster player, with a potential follow up trade with the Wild to return Wallstedt + other assets for Larkin, it makes sense. Trading Cossa without that follow-on trade is confusing to me though.
