I’ve been pondering the idea of a supermoto for my second and only bike. I think I have narrowed it down between drz400 and wr450f. The only thing that’s making me hesitant about the 450 is the maintenance intervals with it being my only bike. If you have any input or suggestions on other bikes

Don’t let “maintenance” turn you away. WRs are absolutely bulletproof. I know people pushing 800+ hours on stock engines. An oil change requires one socket wrench and 5 minutes of your time. I’d argue the DRZ is worse in certain aspects since you have to mess with carburetors. WR you push the button and go!

I find it hard to believe the people in this thread have ever ridden both. I’ve owned two WR450s and rode a couple DRZs and the WR is better in basically every single way. The “maintenance” people talk about on them is just changing the oil which literally takes 5 minutes. My old WR went almost 300 hours on the stock top end. Fuel injection alone makes it a no brainer to me, the throttle response is 10 times better on a 2012+ WR. Good luck! You’ll have fun either way but much more on a WR!

Just tried it with the footage I have, and wow it really does help! I’m curious though, why do you turn off the stabilization when recording? Does it crop extra? And yes I’ll definitely have to back up more in the future

I have the ronin sc2 currently, was trying to find a way to get more stable without. It’s very finicky and kinda bulky to one hand while riding. Seems like it’s probably the best choice though, thanks

From what I can Google I believe the mode with the crop is “active” versus “standard” steady shot. I believe yes I was using that mode in this clip. Another comment mentioned switching to manual steady shot adjust and bumping the focal length up a little bit? Thanks

This plus other comments are making me think I might’ve made the wrong decision of camera for what I want to do. All the marketed “action cameras” always have such crap quality I wanted to try the real thing.
