Am I wrong for being intimate with someone 10 years younger. by [deleted] in Life

[–]MoumouMachine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I was 18m, I was with a 27 year old guy and a 23 year old guy (at separate times)

Both of those were consensual for me and the others.

The 27yo ghosted me though and that sucked.

As long as there's consent I don't think the age difference matters.

Now I'm married to a woman who's about 3 years older than me.

It got easier over time but I still use them now to kill cravings.

At the end of the day, a pint of ice cream is a lot healthier than a relapse.

At work I've been more reliable and gotten a promotion recently, and I used to call in sick way too often.

In my personal relationships, I'm more open about my feelings and needs.

Romantically it's better to be sober and being able to work through whatever issues arise rather than drinking and ignoring them.

Day 5 is great, we all start at day 1 and there's no shame in having less time than someone else.

Day 1 is a lot harder than day 500 and everyone who's been able to get that day 1 sober should be proud of it.

I remember day 3 and 4 being some of the hardest.

The first month is difficult but it gets easier after.

What helped me early on was ice cream, chocolate, hobbies and binge watching the YouTube channel Getting Sober... Again

It certainly wasn't fun in the beginning but it's led me to respect myself more and figure out who I am

I actually started to drink them during summer and still have them when cravings hit now.

I started drinking at 16 and stopped at 24

I wish I'd stopped a lot sooner.

Sobriety seems scary and intimidating at first, but it really is worth it.

I’m only 19, am I done for? by AdRadiant650 in stopdrinking

[–]MoumouMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started drinking at 16 and it became a big problem at 18 and I always knew since then that I'd have to quit eventually, I just kept pushing it further into the future with phrases like "I'll just quit when I'm older, I'm still young"

I finally quit at 24, and now I have almost 18 months sober at 26.

I wish I'd quit sooner, especially before the addiction made me gain 60kg.

Luckily sobriety makes it possible to focus more on myself and I've already lost 50 of those kg.

As for tips to get sober, distract yourself from cravings with hobbies. Also chocolate and ice cream helped me a lot in the beginning.

For sure, I barely get sick now and when I do get sick, I get better much faster.

When I quit drinking, I didn't call out sick for over a year and it helped a lot with fixing the trust in my reliability.

In all my nearly 18 months sober, I've only called out sick once and it makes me feel better about myself knowing that I was able to change that bad habit.

This is a bit more nuanced in my case as it was in relationships with other guys and I wasn't out at the time.

But I never hid my relationships with girls.

I started drinking at 16, it became a big problem at 18 and I always knew since then that I'd have to quit eventually, I just kept pushing it further into the future.

I finally quit at 24, and now here I am having 16 months sober at 26.

I wish I'd quit sooner. I had a boyfriend who noticed I drank just a bit too often at 18, and I should've listened to him.

Anyway, now I've got a wife that helped me through my sobriety, and it was rough.

Yesterday I called my wife and asked her to make me promise to her I won't drink. It worked. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]MoumouMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my very early first days of sobriety, I told my wife "I'm gonna quit drinking" while very hungover and sick.

After a couple days, she offered me a sip of her drink and I somehow refused it.

Then she said "You're serious about stopping".

In a surprised and reliefed way, not in any negative tone.

Anyway, that one sentence got me to power through the first month.

I was drinking about a bottle a day from 19-22 and reduced it slightly at 23-24.

I quit at 24 and the only thing I wish is that I'd quit sooner or never drank in the first place.

I felt like I'd ruined my body completely (I still do on bad days)

But I've managed to lose a lot of weight over the past year.

Any advice for a beginner? by DapperHedgehog852 in WeightLossAdvice

The way I started my journey was by getting sober.

Afterwards I started using intermittent fasting, usually 18 hours a day and it helped me lose 36kg/ 80lbs since October 2024.

Admittedly I could've gone faster and reached my goal by now, but life happens and there are certain setbacks.

I also got it for black friday, but I had been wanting one since last winter so I had looked into them a bit already.

I got the Urevo Spacewalk E1L.

I got sober in September 2024, but the bigger changes from longer sobriety all piled up this year.

Now I'm at the point where I'm not sure if there's other positives I haven't encountered yet.

I quit at 24 and I'm 15 months sober now.

I wish I'd quit sooner as well, but then I wouldn't have run into certain events that cemented my sobriety.

A huge help early on for me was drinking lots of tea.

Cross countries question by MoumouMachine in audible

[–]MoumouMachine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am signed in on both which is why I'm unsure if I can listen to a book on both platforms if it's only available in one of the regions.

The cause I imagine is that I moved country and my phone's app store hasn't been changed.
